CONTROVERSIAL TAX CREDIT … FRAUD? OR FREE MARKET?
Desperate times call for desperate measures if you’re Rand Paul … whose 2016 presidential bid has been an unmitigated disaster (a tragedy, really). In fact the increasingly frustrated candidate is targeting his latest ire on Marco Rubio, the current flavor-of-the-month of the “Republican” establishment.
Hold up … wasn’t Paul with the GOP establishment just a few short weeks ago in attacking Donald Trump, the anti-establishment candidate?

Anyway, the U.S. Senator from Kentucky may be drawing some blood with his broadside against Rubio – who is exceedingly vulnerable on the immigration issue (a.k.a. the issue Trump’s candidacy has pushed to the forefront of the debate).
According to Paul, Rubio’s tax plan – which calls for refundable child tax credits – would exacerbate existing fraud. Fraud which accrues to the benefit of illegal aliens.
“The inspector general said that $4 billion of the current tax dollars are going to illegal aliens,” Paul told radio host Laura Ingraham. “I think Rubio’s plan would explode payments to illegal aliens and this a real problem until we fix the current tax credits, do you really want to double and triple we’re giving?”
“I think Rubio’s tax plan will extend more tax credits to illegal aliens and I think there’s no way in the world we should be supporting something like this,” Paul said.
Rubio defenders say his plan isn’t completely refundable (i.e. the government cuts you a check as opposed to erasing some of your tax obligation) and that Paul is trying to keep money in Washington that should be going toward the consumer economy.
“Conservatives believe that your money belongs to you. So it’s strange for Paul to take this line of attack against Rubio,” Pascal-Emmanuel Gobry of The Week wrote.

I think we’re hitting that part in the cycle where everyone with a brain knows this election is over, and they’re all pushing Marco up there, figuring he’s good fodder.

Mexico has more Free Trade agreements with Asia-Pacific and the EU. Often American and foreign companies with US operations will setup factories in Mexico to take advantage of this. There products can then be sent to the US, Canada, EU and Asia tarriff free. Sometimes parts are made in the US, but assembled in Mexico so that it can be exported all over the world
Stupid Americans think that the USA’S 4.5% of the world’s population is enough to support an auto plant. If the US doesn’t pass TPP and TTIP with Europe and the Asia-Pacific the the middle class with experience further decline.
Correct sir. The middle class actually benefited from NFTA because of the level of high value manufacturing in Mex, USA and Canada. CFTA – not so much – I find it hard to compete with Honduras on bananas. But Asia – huge market, huge amount of trade, need to stay competative.

Meanwhile support for Lindsey Graham plummets:
A Monmouth University Poll of likely South Carolina Republican primary voters showed Graham with 4 percent support in August, dropping to 1 percent in November. A Clemson University Palmetto Poll in October showed Graham with 3 percent. And Public Policy Polling showed Graham dropping from 13 percent in February, when he was only exploring a campaign, to 2 percent this month.
The more recent PPP survey was especially harsh. It found 84 percent of GOP primary voters in South Carolina think Graham should quit the presidential campaign. And people who disapprove of his job performance outnumber those who approve, a reversal from February.
“The presidential campaign is badly hurting his image on the home front,” according to the PPP polling memo.
