Bad news from the beach …
The third annual California Roots Festival – which was set to welcome reggae-rockers 311 and multiple other acts to the Pavilion at Myrtle Beach, S.C. this week – has been cancelled.
“Due to inclement weather, it is being postponed until Spring of next year,” one of the festival’s promoters told us.
Bummer …
“In the interest of safety for our fans, artists, and staff we have decided to postpone California Roots: The Carolina Sessions to a spring 2016 date,” an official release from the festival noted. “Regardless of where Hurricane Joaquin touches down, Myrtle Beach will be significantly effected by rain and high winds, which can severely impact the safety of the festival grounds and environment.”

WILL — there IS no “Pavilion” in Myrtle Beach. It was torn down several years ago. There is basically a big empty lot now, with a zip line holding a place there until they “develop” the land again, and some portable stages, etc., that the set up for special events like this festival. The promoters chose to call that “The Pavilion”, but nobody else does.

I have attended a beach music event and a country music event on that property.It IS the Pavilion area and is used as ‘festival grounds’.Just because it doesn’t have rides anymore Pee Wee, doesn’t mean it is NOT called the Pavilion area.
