OUTGOING SPEAKER WANTS ANOTHER PURGE OF LIMITED GOVERNMENT LAWMAKERS
|| By FITSNEWS || Rick Manning of the group Americans for Limited Government was happy to give liberal U.S. Speaker of the House John Boehner a respectful send-off … until it became clear the retiring “Republican” leader wasn’t leaving government until he stuck it to taxpayers one last time.
Not only that, as he prepares to step down Boehner is looking to further weaken the legislative influence of limited government lawmakers – many of whom he recently derided as “false prophets.”
“We got groups here in town, members of the House and Senate here in town, who whip people into a frenzy believing they can accomplish things they know – they know! – are never going to happen,” Boehner told CBS’ Face The Nation.
Of course they know “those things” are never going to happen – because Boehner and his liberal “Republican” allies consistently vote with the Democrats.
Anyway, Manning leads one of the groups Boehner attacked … and he took none too kindly to the outgoing Speaker’s barb about “cleaning the barn” of such influences.
“Since Boehner was not specific, one can only presume that he wants to pass that agenda taking the country on the exact far-left course which the public voted against to put him into power,” Manning wrote in a column for The Hill. “All due to a venal sense that the meanie conservatives in the GOP conference wouldn’t let him have all of what K Street and 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue wanted, such as reauthorization of the U.S. Export-Import Bank.”
Indeed. A handful of “Republicans” wouldn’t roll over for the Washington, D.C. establishment – and Boehner is intent on crucifying them as he leaves office.
