FACES LIFE IN FEDERAL PRISON …
|| By FITSNEWS || A 69-year-old Blythewood, S.C. man has been found guilty of using the internet in an attempt to lure a minor child into having sexual relations.
John Francis Williams was visiting his vacation home in Port Orange, Florida in October 2012 when he responded to a Craigslist advertisement. It turns out the solicitation was actually placed by an undercover officer posing as the mother of a 14-year-old girl – a woman claiming to be “looking for a man to teach her child about sex.”
After communicating with the “mother” via email and telephone, Williams traveled to her location for the expressed purpose of having sex with the teenage girl.
“He brought an overnight bag containing condoms, lubricants, and vibrators,” a statement from U.S. Attorney A. Lee Bentley, III‘s office noted.
Williams was indicted in February of 2013 and faces sentencing this November.
“He faces a maximum penalty of life in federal prison,” Bentley’s office noted.
Wow … that’s a pretty hardcore potential sentence for a case in which there’s technically no victim. And a case in which the intention to commit a crime constituted the extent of the malfeasance.
Look: It’s abundantly clear Williams is a low-life. Hell, any individual – man or woman, gay or straight – who seeks to engage in sexual acts with minor children under the age of consent isn’t going to receive any sympathy from us.
But life in prison? On an entrapment case?
Again, that’s pretty severe …
We don’t like police entrapment, although the counterpoint – namely taking a pedophile off the streets – is hard to argue with. And again, you won’t see us driving down to Tampa to argue on behalf of Williams’ liberties.

It is not a crime to be a pedophile. It is a crime to rape a child, however. Being a pedophile means having sexual desire for children. Pedophilia rape would be the more precise term for what sexual preditors who are pedophiles do. Yes, this is a form of entrapment. The desire to have sex with a child is something that cannot be detected in any way, unless you believe in telepathy. The ACT of molesting/raping a child is something else. And I stated that I have no sympathy. There is a certain level of “insanity” that cannot be an excuse. Legally speaking. THUS, I don’t have a problem with this form of “entrapment.” The INTENT to have sex with a child, openly displayed, should get someone put away.
