STATUS QUO “REPUBLICAN” RIPPED FOR INSIDER DEALING
|| By FITSNEWS || Former Florida governor Jeb Bush – eager to sharpen his attacks on surprise GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump – finds himself playing defense again this week.
According to a blistering report from International Business Times (the outlet which broke the stories about Hillary Clinton‘s foundational warmongering), Bush made big bucks off of his relationship with Lehman Brothers at a time when the taxpayers of Florida got screwed by the company.
“Transactions in 2005 and 2006 put the Wall Street investment bank in charge of some $250 million worth of pension funds for Florida cops, teachers and firefighters,” the IB Times report noted. “Lehman would capture more than $5 million in fees on these deals, while gaining additional contracts to manage another $1.2 billion of Florida’s money. Then, in the fall of 2008, Lehman collapsed into bankruptcy, leaving Florida facing up to $1 billion in losses.”
Why is this bad for Bush?
Because in 2007 – the year he left office – Lehman hired him as a consultant. His salary? A whopping $1.3 million a year.
Yeah …
Bush’s campaign refused to speak to International Business Times, but a watchdog quoted by the paper referred to the deal as “a breathtaking conflict of interest,” one that “cost Florida very dearly” even as it “enriched Jeb Bush.”
According to the paper, pay-to-play corporate cronyism is nothing new for Bush.

Bush approved a land deal in Florida benefiting a timber company, Rayonier, that later paid him $1 million after he left office, as IBTimes reported in June. IBTimes also reported that under Bush, Florida shifted billions of dollars of pension cash to financial firms whose executives had raised large sums for his brother’s presidential campaign. Some of those same donors are now giving money to the super PAC supporting Jeb Bush’s 2016 presidential bid.
