LOWCOUNTRY TO RESPOND TO “HOLY CITY MASSACRE”
|| By FITSNEWS || Organizations across the South Carolina Lowcountry are gathering this coming weekend to form a “unity chain” across the Arthur Ravenel, Jr. bridge.
The event – which hopes to draw 3,000 people – is in response to this week’s horrific “Holy City Massacre,” in which a 21-year-old white gunman has confessed to murdering nine black parishioners after attending their Bible study at the Mother Emanuel AME Church in downtown Charleston, S.C. One of the victims was the church’s pastor – S.C. Senator Clementa Pinckney.
“Hate is taught, you are not born with it. I think it is important to teach our children unity, love and respect,” one of the event organizers said in a statement.
The rally will begin at 7:45 p.m. EDT on Sunday evening (June 21, 2015) on the Mount Pleasant, S.C. side of the Ravenel bridge. At around 8:00 p.m. EDT, event organizers hope to have participants link arms across the iconic span.
“The entire Charleston area is united in support for members of Mother Emanuel AME Church and shares in the grief of her families,” former Mt. Pleasant mayor Cheryll Woods-Flowers said. “We are one in our strength, pride and in our love.”
Those wishing to reference the event on Twitter should use the hashtag #unitychaincharleston.
Meanwhile up in Columbia, S.C., a “Take The Flag Down” rally has been scheduled for 6:00 p.m. EDT at the S.C. State House. For more information on that event, click here.

Oh, please. You are what we are so tired of. We are tired of beating beaten over the head relentlessly with the drumbeat of “race” and “racism”, then being forced into having meaningless conversations about it just to show our moral turpitude. The whole race business has become just that, a business. That’s what’s being pointed out and that’s the reason for pointing out the futility of engaging in any sort of “unity” rally. People are tired of the race conversation being co-opted by dishonest people who lack properly perspective. You can say we have miserable lives all you want, but we just want the charades to stop.

Yet you come back day after day to read these comments. Apparently you don’t have enough to do. Maybe you could go hang out at Eau Claire High School and tutor students so they’ll stay in school, or go volunteer in their daycare.
Why do you think we’re miserable? I’m doing very well in about every aspect of life lately… I’m happier than I’ve ever been. Heading out shortly to look at a couple houses in Saluda River Club, that way I can be surrounded by successful people and don’t have to worry about Obama putting Section 8 residents next door to me in my current one.
You could at least explain why you don’t want to live next to section 8 residents. Otherwise, you’re just setting yourself up to be called racist because most liberals equate section 8 neighborhoods with blacks. Yeah, I get it, that assumption is actually racist, but why give them any fuel to stoke a racial fire if you can help it.
Name one instance where Section 8 housing didn’t depreciate property values of it’s neighbors. I work hard, I’m not a trust fund baby, to get where I am and buy what I have. Why should someone who leeches off every government assistance program be allowed to move in next door in a similar sized and valued house simply to comply with some social program? I’ve lived in everything from an apartment, a trailer house, fixer uppers, new starter homes and now a 3500 sq.ft. house. I didn’t get one property or rental home handed to me by the government and I don’t want neighbors who do.
I’m currently looking at my next house, and my realtor has been instructed to target gated communities and non-gated communities where houses must have a minimum size restriction.

SCBlue… I believe I hear sarcasm dripping from many of these statements. I agree it can be overwhelming when flung with gusto and in concert … at the same time, I am tire of the race card being played over and over and over again.

It was 86 degrees in Charleston at 8AM with a heat index in the 90s.
