TODD RUTHERFORD CALLED OUT OVER HIS CHURCH’S VIEWS ON HOMOSEXUALITY

|| By FITSNEWS || S.C. minority leader Todd Rutherford scored a big win this week … or so it seemed.

Days after the veteran Democratic lawmaker criticized Clemson University head football coach Dabo Swinney for a scheduled appearance before a social conservative group which opposes gay marriage, Swinney backed out of the event.

Swinney’s decision left the group in question – the Palmetto Family Council – scrambling to defend its reputation.

Ball game to Rutherford … right?  Not so fast …

Now it’s Rutherford’s turn to play defense …

According to the lawmaker’s legislative biography, he’s a board member at Brookland Baptist Church in West Columbia, S.C.  And yes, Rutherford’s church not only refuses to perform gay weddings – it teaches that homosexuality is a sin.

That discrepancy resulted in Rutherford getting called out on social media …

Rutherford’s spokesman Tyler Jones says the lawmaker’s beef with Palmetto Family Council wasn’t over gay marriage.

“That issue is settled,” he told us.

Correct.  Well, pending a forthcoming U.S. Supreme Court ruling, anyway.

What was it about then?

“There’s a diff(erence) between being anti-gay marriage and being anti-gay,” Jones said.  “PFC is both.”

Okay … we’d been conditioned by liberal operatives like Jones to believe both positions were synonymous with “hate,” but assuming you accept his distinction: isn’t Brookland Baptist “both,” too?

And if so … does that mean Rutherford should resign his position with the church?  Or stop attending?

No … not at all.

However it does mean that he (and other politicians who attend churches with similar views) should probably think long and hard before trying to score political points on this issue in the future …

Again, for the eleventy kabillionth time, we don’t believe that government (including politicians like Rutherford) should have anything to do with marriage.  That’s exclusively an institution of the church, and it should be up to individual congregations to decide who they wish to marry.

Hilarious. Why is this a surprise about Rutherford? One he is a Democrat and they are hypocrites and liars.

Two, the black community feels the same way about homosexuality and gay marriage as ISIS.It is wrong and a sin. Many black will vote against the Democrat Party on this issue now that Obama is not on the ballot and lesbian Hillary is running.

Just like Obama attending Trinity United Church of Christ and listened to the @**#^& Rev Jerimiah Wright. Wright knew Obama was gay and arranged the marriage to that transvestite Moochelle @*&#&&# and *@&*#&#& so this is nothing new or unexpected.

Rutherford is just a #*&$& LIBELATRARIAN and he and his GOD Obammy are just worshiping at the altar of RuPaul who designed Moochelle’s wardrobe.

Ive never liked the idea that a politician should be attacked for his own personal beliefs as a private citizen, so long as he represents the constituency that elected him. When personal beliefs (or special interests) cause a politician to make decisions contrary to the wishes of the people that elected him then he is unfit for office.

Honestly, do you think that marriage as a contract between two men over the buying and selling of a woman and establishing the paternity of her children did not exist anywhere on the planet before the Christian church?

Reply
The Colonel May 29, 2015 at 11:10 am

Obviously the Christian idea of a “God ordained” relationship clearly existed around 6,000 years ago because it’s mentioned in the Bible:

Genesis 2: 22-24 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman, ‘ for she was taken out of man.” For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.

There’s pretty good evidence that our prehistoric ancestors were in fact not monogamous: http://www.salon.com/2010/06/27/sex_at_dawn_interview/ But little evidence that the relationships were between “Adam and Steve”. In fact, there is ample evidence that homosexuality came about when humans had more time to “screw around”: http://chrestomathy.cofc.edu/documents/vol8/kyle.pdf In that same study, there are numerous societies where homosexuality is almost non existent.

What’s bullshit?

The fact that you disagree with the traditional understanding of the Creation story doesn’t mean that the idea of the traditional understanding of what a marriage is. The Book of Genesis is at least 3,500 years old (most date it to pre 1,500 BCE/BC)

The Ryan and Jetha interview in Salon is simply a “high school” level synopsis of their book “Sex at Dawn: The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality,”

The Kyle article is extremely well researched and was written by a bright young lady at the College of Charleston.

This Bullshit May 29, 2015 at 11:56 am

Bad research in my opinion, and the works she cites are mainly 40 years old or more. My Reasearch and Design professor would had laughed his ass off…

“Since data on the question of homosexuality was not available for all 186 societies in the sample used, the sample size is relatively small and uneven in its distribution between the three different levels of population pressure. The results therefore do not represent the actual percentages of cultures that practice homosexuality around the world…”

The Colonel May 29, 2015 at 12:12 pm

Ah, you can make a cogent argument!

Yes the samples are small and the data is older but that is the entire point. Isolated socioeconomic groups don’t show the levels of homosexuality or acceptance of gay marriage. It is the prevelance of acceptance for homosexuality in “developed society” that is of interest.

RogueElephant May 29, 2015 at 12:21 pm

The acceptance by a society of homosexuality leads to that society’s downfall. Think Greek and Roman empires. Are we next ????? Like I say : you can legalize sin but it is still sin.

A total of 2.3% of U.S. adults said they were gay, lesbian or bisexual in the largest federal government survey ever to ask about sexual orientation.

That number is a bit lower than the 3% to 4% found in some other recent surveys, including a Gallup Poll from 2012 — but some of those studies encompassed broader groups, including transsexuals. In the new survey of 34,557 adults, released Tuesday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an additional 1.1% said they were “something else,” didn’t know or refused to answer.

Rutherford inadvertently did Clemson a favor. Now that UNC has agreed to remove the name of a Klan leader from a campus building, people may start to wonder why Clemson is so intent on keeping the name Tillman Hall. For now, instead of being portrayed as both racist and homophobic, the university may only be portrayed as racist, whether true or not. I see people on Clemson’s Tigernet site wondering why the last five football recruits have signed with other schools. The university is handing coaches and recruiters at other schools a gift, and its fans wonder why prospective athletes go elsewhere. I actually must give Dabo great credit as a recruiter, as he has succeeded in spite of the university cluelessly undermining his efforts.

News flash for dumb face. College football recruiting is a game that you aren’t qualified nor do you have the inside knowledge to even attempt to play. It may seem to the uneducated such as yourself that a school is actively recruiting a certain athlete when in fact it is a ruse. Secondly, some high school athletes think they have been offered a scholarship when in fact they weren’t. Also when a school gets a position commitment from the player they really wanted, they “graciously” let another school(s) “steal” their secondary recruits while crying crocodile tears.

Vintage Rutherford hypocrisy, but it’s not as fresh as his recent comments about the tradition of electing chief justices based on seniority within the sitting members of the court!

On Wednesday of this week, when asked if Don Beatty should be elected next year to succeed Costa Pleicones as chief justice, Rutherford told La Socialista, “I hope the seniority process is respected, as it has been, and we continue to elect the most senior justice to have an orderly transition.” However, just one year before, Rutherford voted for Pleicones in his attempt to unseat Toal in her re-election as chief justice.

To recap, in 2014 Rutherford disrespected the seniority system by backing Pleicones over Toal, but in 2015 he thinks the seniority system should be respected to elect Beatty as chief justice when Pleicones has to step down because of his age. I know in the latter situation Rutherford is just looking out for a brotha, the same one who cost his party control of the House due to his re-districting stupidity as a House member.

Loftis will never be governor..He has a high school degree.. no financial knowledge, a gross life style and a violent temper with no limits. No future in that .. The koch Brothers know best.. Loftis will never be governor. Gay, Loftis is exposed for what he is. Abuse of power in office is against the law.

Adonis May 31, 2015 at 9:23 pm

Dan,
You seem to be angry at Loftis. Perhaps you should have a little Tina and have some wild man on man sex and forget about him.
Tina has always served you well.

Gay May 31, 2015 at 8:25 pm

Loftis hired Brennan and He worked very hard for Loftis.. Many pictures and many hours of dedicated work from him to make Loftis look good. Loftis is a vile sick gay man from way back… Abuse of power and abuse of sexual power is against state and federal laws. Loftis is scared .. and he should be.. The shit is coming. Loftis is not an innocent person.. A very sick gay man.

Kelly May 31, 2015 at 8:31 pm

Haters gonna hate. Daniel Brennan as an openly gay man running a political organization posing as a veterans organization should be more sensitive to casting such vulgar, nasty and deceptive comments around the net. I guess the Koch Brothers are pulling out all the stops now. So much for their Christian values.

Nigel May 31, 2015 at 8:37 pm

Gay Dan,

How much are you being paid to assault Loftis on the internet?

Is your gay “GRINDR” account being paid by the Kochs? Are they paying for your trip to gay Iceland?

Laws May 31, 2015 at 8:47 pm

STFU Loftis. You are a sick vile gay man. So STFU. Many will testify against you, under oath soon. very soon. Better resign before you are exposed for the sick , mentally challenged … You will never be governor .. You will be in jail for violation of moral. ethical , legal, financial laws.

PartyAllNight May 31, 2015 at 8:50 pm

Dan Brennan, can I reach you at “LittlePrickBigAsss” on Gay Grindr? Or your Concerned Veterans of America website?

I would like some Tina from you.

Hanged May 31, 2015 at 9:08 pm

Curtis Loftis, Can I reach you at the State Treasurer Of SC? I am well hanged with a big bulge and have read your want ad for a male servant on Craig list. I also know that you like young men with big bulge and I think I qualify.. Give me a call . I can make you forget that Bank of NY/Mellon deal that you signed and has cost over 200 millions in the trust fund of State retirees. Yes, I qualify .. well hanged

Tina Dan May 31, 2015 at 9:19 pm

Oh Dan, meant to tell you that I read this and thought of you!
“an entire subculture known as party and play is based around methamphetamine use.”[3] Gay men belonging to this subculture will typically meet up through internet dating sites and have sex.”

Mary Jane May 31, 2015 at 10:18 pm

Dan, sassy Dan. I love this. I can type forever. It is so much fun to see you get so mad. Toot Toot you head must go. Toot Toot, the sassy head must go!

Hans May 31, 2015 at 9:09 pm

I suppose Dan knows this about his summer vacation spot:

“ICELAND LAWS: 1. Has no sodomy laws, the age of sexual consent is 14 for all.”

I bet it is difficult to tell a 13 year old boy from a 14 year old boy Travelers should be very careful.

Adonis May 31, 2015 at 9:21 pm

Dan,
Don’t take Tina to Iceland. It is cheaper there.

Tim May 31, 2015 at 5:25 pm

This is just an old Koch Brothers trick. Post an anonymous, small attack against someone unimportant like Brennan then have a fierce, deceptive and angry rebuttal at an innocent party like Loftis. The Koch Brothers should stop attacking Loftis under these false pretenses.

I heard the Koch Brothers have given Dan Brennan and commodores 50 grand to torpedo Loftis. I suppose this is the method they have chosen. Does not speak well for the Koch Brothers sense of honor and integrity.

Hell, some people are just stupid. These haters have made Loftis the center of their world and are playing the fool like it is no one’s business. The post against him, and sometimes they make up post from him just so they can make stupid attacks back at him. Honestly, there is an IQ problem here and these Loftis haters evidently are in the very, very slow category.

It is clear to anyone with a brain that this is the Investment Commission people turning on Brennan so he will attack Loftis even more viscously than before.
Goes to show the old saying, “there is no honor among thieves'” holds true in the age of anonymous internet posting.

Attack June 1, 2015 at 8:33 am

What? Loftis innocent? He is an infected vile man, a bully, with violence against women … a vicious man, expert in false accusations and attacks .. A very sick bully with the personality of a roach..

Resign, my eye! If that church had any integrity, they would ask for his resignation and if that is not forthcoming, his butt should be dismissed immediately.

Actually we have been conditioned by sites like this to be lazy. The palmetto family council supports the discredited idea of ex-gay therapy and endorses groups like the family research council and American Family Association who spread lies about gays such as gays started the Nazi party and homosexuality and pedophilia are related. Instead the media gets stuck on lazy semantics regarding hate instead of doing good old fashion research.
