ALLEGATIONS OF AFFAIRS, BLACKMAIL ROCK SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE
|| By FITSNEWS || Political operatives loyal to S.C. Senator Lee Bright (above, seated) – a social conservative who wears his Christian faith on his sleeve – have been spreading unfounded personal allegations against several of Bright’s colleagues in the South Carolina Senate, multiple sources familiar with the situation tell FITS.
In one alleged instance, the dissemination of this idle gossip may have even been employed in an effort to boost Bright’s fundraising efforts – which would obviously be akin to blackmail.
It’s not immediately clear whether Bright has sanctioned such Nixonian activities – or even knew about them – but FITS has spoken with multiple State Senators who claim the Spartanburg, um, “businessman” is well aware of what his operatives are up to.
What a “Christian” bunch of guys, huh?
“His camp spread(s) stuff,” one Senator who claims to have been victimized by Bright’s operation texted a colleague.
“I hate the guy,” the Senator added.
The colleague specifically asked whether the Senator knew Bright’s camp was responsible for that particular rumor – which involved an alleged extramarital affair between the lawmaker and a woman against whom Bright holds a grudge.
“Yes,” the Senator responded.
Another Senator told FITS one of Bright’s operatives was responsible for spreading rumors about an alleged extramarital affair involving him and a State House staffer – although this Senator declined to confront Bright over that allegation.
“Good to keep an enemy close,” the Senator said.
Yet another rumor reportedly involved a third Senator and a State House lobbyist.
Bright has been all about settling scores from his failed 2014 U.S. Senate race – a loss he blames on, well, everybody. The Upstate Bible thumper received 15.4 percent of the vote – finishing a distant second to eventual winner Lindsey Graham.
Bright believes at least two other “Republicans” who ran against Graham were put in the race to sabotage his candidacy – and siphon support away from him (as though he needed any help in that department). Anyway, we’re told at least one of the rumor-mongering campaigns currently infecting the Senate chamber stems from Bright’s residual animus over his 2014 defeat.
FITS will be keeping a close eye on Bright’s operation in the weeks and months to come …
We used to have a lot of respect for Bright. But last year he cast his vote for liberal Senate leader Hugh Leatherman – and this year he’s made it clear his vote is up for trade. We can’t abide by that.

I can’t even read this article before commenting. I loved Lee Bright. At face value – a true soldier. Look a little deeper, the man is ready to implode at any moment.
He needs to change his name from “Bright” to “Dumber-than-Dogshit.”

What a waste of time. I am a SC “transplant” as many like to call me, but I’ve spent more of my life here than anywhere else. This religion shit is old. Bright is catering to the hard right. Not because he believes that. Hell, the man asks for a pardon for his own failed business – wants to blame Obama?
If he ever goes anywhere in politics, it will not be because I vote for him. I am sure a good guy – but nuts!

Lee bright is what happens when 20% of the registered voters turn out. Im willing to bet that anyone digging deep into those elections in spartanburg county (no surprises there) would find all kinds of “interesting’ occurances in the days leading up to those elections.
Who the eff were we going to vote for? I supported Mace, but she had no talking points, too busy fund raising. Bright was ready to implode at any moment, but way to socially conservative for me. Who was there to vote for? We all knew it was an anti-Graham campaign, at least those of us who do sometimes vote in local elections.
Not to mention he looks like a mean old toad.
Spartanburg & Greenville Tea Baggers turning out to vote for him (that district covers both counties due to Republican maneuvering partially accomplished by Bright and others)……plain and simple

Shoopman and Bright traded off areas that were not favorable to them, splitting Greer in half (again) and basically disenfranchising northern Spartanburg County…this one thing brought out a challenger to Shoopman and then, of course, he bailed and rammed Corbin down our throats. I really hate these assholes.
Yep, I remember the whole sordid affair and have written/posted as such but noone seems to care.
I even talked to Shoopman a few weeks before his sell-out and he told me he was “honored” to have NW Spartanburg in his district. Then the weasel promptly bailed and handed the district over to Corbin on a silver platter.
That “swap out” totally threw the good citizens of NE Greenville & NW Spartanburg counties under the bus, backed up the bus, pissed on the citizens and then drove over us for a second time!!!
Corbin and Lee are two peas in a pod and don’t deserve to represent a shit eating green fly let alone the good citizens of Spartanburg & Greenville counties

Will Folks lost a lot of respect for Bright because he voted for Leatherman but Folks is still in love with carpetbagger Davis even though Davis voted for Queen Jean.

And based upon his past lack of business acumen he probably needs the cash. Bright has been running for some sort of office for the past twenty years, so he hasn’t worked much.

If he did run for gov (and I son’t think he would), he’d get his ass handed to him but he would only run if he could keep his senate seat when he lost (which is what he does every time.
Bright knows his senate seat is secure as long as the tea baggers support him (which they most certainly do) and he can make a good living on all the graft he has coming his way.

But hey, he’s a darling of the Spartanburg Tea Party so as far as he is concerned his seat as a state senator for the “Great state of South Carolina” is secure because those are the ones who voted for him and keep him in office.
Once again, I have to 2nd everything sparklecity says…can’t stand Bright or his minions. I once confronted him with a lie he was promoting (during the 2012 primaries) and his response was that shit-eating grin and shrugged shoulders.
You should have been there when he was trying to explain to the people served by the Holly Springs Fire Department why he did what he did and fucked up the whole organization because he nominated a cronie to the HSFD council (who just happened to use Bright’s “trucking company” to deliver furniture).
The people served by HSFD were damn near ready to tar & feather him after that and he knew it.
That nasty little frecas started the “grand plan” to swap out districts..
Bright knew he had a snowball’s chance in hell getting reelected by anybody in NW Spartanburg County area served by HSFD.
