MIDLANDS “ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT” OFFICIAL IMPLICATED IN FRAUD
A prominent Midlands, South Carolina “economic development” official is about to be busted by the S.C. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED), sources tell FITS.
According to multiple law enforcement sources, the official – 36-year-old Wayne Gregory of the City of Columbia – was caught writing checks to fake vendors and spending money on pre-paid credit cards.
How much coin are we talking about?
“As much as $200,000,” our source said.
Yikes …
Gregory was hired last September by the city after doing “economic development” work in Georgetown County.
“Columbia is such a great city with abundant potential,” Gregory said in a statement on his hiring. “I cannot wait to get started in helping the city of Columbia move forward in creating jobs.”
Uh-huh …
UPDATE: WLTX TV 19 (CBS – Columbia, S.C.) is confirming Gregory’s arrest.

I will believe it when I see it. Your sources may have great info but in this state, no one gets arrested that greases the right palms.

I thought so too. How did this particular “economic development” wienie cross Haley or one of her patrons?
SLED only does what it is in its political best interests. If some low level chump is to be arrested, more than likely it is to cover up someone higher up. I have lost all faith in SLED. Not to mention, there is no FBI presense in the state. Lawlessness abounds.
SLED gets its money from Leatherman. Leatherman decides who gets arrested.

The People can change this atmosphere of corruption and cronyism by voting out the establishment and their lap dogs. It won’t happen because the voters are uninformed and lazy — characteristics, when coupled with the lack of an independent and vigorous Fourth Estate, result in “business as usual.”
Not in a city being run by a Ray Nagin wannabe with an election office full of disgusting underhanded democrats. We haven’t had a good clean election here in Richland County in years.

Wayne Gregory was arrested by Georgetown County for his use of a county purchasing card. He was previously held a similar job with Georgetown County. Columbia city Mgr. fired him after his arrest.
