Be honest, Samuel … you’re high right now, aren’t you? It’s okay, man. You’re amongst friends. Anyway, to answer your question this website has consistently advocated for the legalization of ALL banned substances – for both medical and recreational use. And we will continue to do so. For the latest on the medical marijuana debate in South Carolina, check out this great piece by our associate opinion editor Amy Lazenby.

Samuel, unfortunately, I feel your pain. I can barely get out of bed some days. Neuropathy is agonizing. Doctors have law enforcement breathing down their necks, and undertreat pain because of random junkies who have nought to do with me. I could give a rat’s ass if they all O.D. I just know that I’m too young to be trapped in bed all day, on a sunny day like this. I dunno whether medical marijuana is the answer, but I’ll try anything over this misery.

BB is sending conflicting messages in her post. If she is truthful she has my sympathy. If she’s trolling for a date or a boyfriend then someone should follow through on that. Anyone who can work in “nought”, “rat’s ass,” and “try anything” in one post has to be interesting.

Let’s see if I can recraft the curse: “May you live in interesting times” into.. nah.. it’ll never come out right.

Generally, the only docs with “law enforcement breathing down their necks” are pill mill docs who feed addicts for the kickbacks and Medicare/Medicaid payoffs. That’s big business; when the average pill mill visit is under 5 minutes, unscrupulous docs can roll an ass of pillheads through the office in a day…

It is big business, until they get caught. Who are these pill mill doctors? I’ve never met one, that’s for sure. My doctors are legit as it gets, and it is a hardship to deal with the prescribing–there are no refills, so once a month I have to drive all the way out to Lexington and then take it to the pharmacy, they can’t call anything in either. For people who can’t drive, and have a hard time getting out of bed, this is a ridiculous rule that all must follow. I had to change pharmacies due to Walgreens having a rule that they need to call the doctor to confirm the prescription. On a Friday at 5:30, they refused to fill my prescription from a Duke-affiliated large oncology practice until they could call on Monday to verify, for a script that I have refilled every month for nearly two years. And now they have yet another committee, to see who is writing a lot of pain prescriptions, and like everything else, you’d think they’d have the good sense to see that a doctor treating hundreds of cancer patients would not be flagged, but I doubt they have the good sense to see that. If I trusted the government and bureaucrats to protect patients, I wouldn’t be posting on this site. The ACA caused people in the middle of cancer treatment to have their insurance canceled, so don’t tell me they have our best interests at heart. I had my driver’s license swiped at Target on Saturday, because I was buying off the shelf cough syrup for my husband, not the stuff they took away and put behind the counter. The big boot of government is crushing the healthcare sector, and this is but one of the issues. You don’t believe they make it this tough on cancer patients until it happens to you. And by the way, SC Oncology (near Platinum Plus ironcially) doesn’t give pain meds during chemo, you have to argue and fight with them, cruel beyond belief, so i had to fire them. If you or a loved one gets cancer, stay away from that practice, unless you enjoy agony and misery.

We’ve moved well beyond our original deal, but okay…

The regulation of the prescription and OTC issues you mentioned only came about in recent years due to rampant abuse by pillheads AND the greedy docs who enabled their doc shopping. The procedures are a little onerous, but have helped tremendously with the underlying problem. We do end up having to work around them (which is a pain in the ass), I’ll give you that. But this was not big evil gubmint. The ACA, however, is big evil evil gubmint. I’ll give you that one.

I don’t know about your SC Oncology deal- a member of my immediate family was a patient there throughout a two-year battle with cancer, and we had zero issues getting pain meds. I hate that they were giving you grief; maybe it was your particular doc or something.

Leave it to me to get Dr. Mangleya. But I’m sorry, I don’t like Target (given their hacking!) or anyone else swiping my license for cough syrup that sits on the shelf, that doesn’t need anyone’s permission to purchase. It’s always the same for-the-children campaigning tactics. The next one will be requiring a prescription for any and all allergy/sinus meds, that group pushing for it is still out there looking for supporters. How exactly will that work, we’ll all take the day off to sit in the doctor’s office and then pay for a visit for common allergy meds? Insurance and primary care will love it.
