CLEMSON, S.C. – Head football coach Dabo Swinney announced Tuesday the suspension of four players for the first game of the 2014 season at Georgia on August 30. David Beasley, Shaq Anthony, Garry Peters and Corey Crawford will miss the season opener due to a violation of team rules.

“I am disappointed to announce that these young men will miss the 2014 opener at Georgia,” Swinney said.

“A huge part of our program is teaching accountability, responsibility and that there are consequences for your actions. These are four good young men, but they broke a team rule and as a result, they will each miss a game. I am hopeful that they will learn and grow from this and have a great 2014 season on and off the field.”

Crawford, a defensive end, and Beasley and offensive guard, were starters last year, while Peters, a defensive back, and Anthony, an offensive tackle, were key reserves who will compete for starting roles this year.

Who suspends good players for a real game? I thought you just suspended them for a week of spring practice or something?

Going by Dabo’s previous standards, they must have done something worse than throwing a woman down the stairs or beating one with a towel rod.

CNSYD March 4, 2014 at 4:10 pm

Still looking for the court records on both those alleged events. Do you have a copy?

Reply
Original Good Old Boy March 4, 2014 at 4:18 pm

Mmmm. I believe court records were sealed as part of PTI (at least in McDaniel’s case). In any event:

“The incident report says a woman identified as McDaniel’s girlfriend said the sophomore also punched her in the head, face and chest, and pushed her down a flight of stairs. The report says the woman was treated at a hospital for a cervical sprain and contusions.” From http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3457784

“According to an incident report from the Clemson University Police Department, that incident [with Joe Craig] involved “assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature” with a female team member, Marlena Wesh. . . . Craig repeatedly banged on the door with a silver towel rod, leaving marks on it. When police arrived, they witnessed Wesh emerge from an elevator on the ground floor, bleeding from her head and “screaming and hysterical.”” From ww.orangeandwhite.com/news/2011/jun/03/tigers-craig-involved-high-and-aggravated-assault/

ESPN and The Orange and White are official court records? Who knew?

Original Good Old Boy March 4, 2014 at 4:30 pm

Yeah, cause without court records (which were sealed) it never happened, right?

CNSYD March 4, 2014 at 4:53 pm

Being a gamecock, you ought to be very familiar with PTI. I will go slow for you.P is Pre. T is Trial. I is Intervention. Now can you connect the dots and realize that there was not a trial? IRT the second alleged event, since no complaint was filed by either party and LE did not witness the alleged event, there was no arrest and no trial. End of story.

not so fast March 4, 2014 at 7:03 pm

Actually Its an admission of guilt by going, because you have to sign an agreement as in pleading of guilty in order to apply.

CNSYD March 4, 2014 at 10:57 pm

That is correct. However, when all terms of the agreement are successfully completed, the record is expunged. Therefore no official record exists nor was there ever sworn testimony and cross examination in a court of law.

Some attorneys advise clients to take this route. The alleged victim must also agree.

historybuff March 4, 2014 at 11:17 pm

What exactly is your point? The thugs on my plantation have beaten the thugs on your plantation five years in a row. That’s what we’re really talking about, right? You need some better thugs.

not so fast March 5, 2014 at 12:36 pm

So you say his admission of guilt that must be done so that he can get into the program means he didn’t do it? And for the record you do understand that there does not need to be “cross examination in a court of law” in any case in which the defendant pleads guilty before it goes to court. They just accept the deal and don’t go to court. That doesn’t make them innocent.

Also “Some attorneys advise clients to take this route.” UMM, bad attorneys of guilty clients do this.

Original Good Old Boy March 5, 2014 at 2:51 pm

Wow, are you really this obtuse in real life, or is this just some sort of subtle trolling? If the latter, good job. So because records are expunged it never happened?
Are we arguing about the same issue? Why all the sudden does internal team discipline depend on non-expunged court records? I’m not following you.

semantics March 4, 2014 at 4:18 pm

yeah, because if a deal was made to keep it under the (“wrapped up”) carpet it never happened.

Which reminds me, has anyone heard from Quintin Richardson?

“South Carolina football player Quintin Richardson has been suspended indefinitely while university officials look into a claim the offensive tackle assaulted his girlfriend last week in the parking lot of Williams-Brice Stadium.”

“Richardson was arrested the summer before his freshman year for simple possession of marijuana at a Northeast Richland apartment complex. A local magistrate later agreed on a conditional discharge for Richardson.”

Squishy the pussy March 4, 2014 at 6:56 pm

hey the pussy is finally back. been hiding there little pussy?

carls jr March 4, 2014 at 10:39 pm

Yeah, he’s been crying a few days over the Gamecocks sweep of his beloved Tigers in baseball. If Clemson won, he would have been the biggest Tigers fan. Now that the Cocks won, he is not a Clemson fan. But on the other hand, he doesn’t have a dog in the fight…then again, he throws in an obscure Quinton Richardson reference. These shitkickers can’t keep their stories straight.

Squishy123 March 5, 2014 at 9:46 am

Dirtpeckers and Taters played baseball last week???

Speaking of 3rd rate college sports, when do they meet up for the women’s equestrian match?

Squishy the pussy March 5, 2014 at 12:23 pm

Because D2 (the ones not good enough for D1) basketball is just so big. funny little pussy

Squishy123 March 5, 2014 at 1:15 pm

We drew more fans than what showed up at the mighty Dirtpecker games when you played… hell we drew more fans than what show up for Dirtpecker baseball now. Back then your stands would have been empty if it weren’t for parents and grandparents showing up.

historybuff March 5, 2014 at 1:37 pm

“than what showed up”,,,What nice grammar. People speak the english they grew up hearing. I would wager your parents were real goobers.

Squishy123 March 5, 2014 at 1:44 pm

Uh oh, the grammar police are here. I notice you didn’t bother putting the correct grammatical phrase in your reply.

I guess Starbucks is a little slow and you’ve already cleared the tables, what else is there for an English major to do.

Squishy the pussy March 5, 2014 at 3:12 pm

sure you did! No one gave a damn about you pussy or your little team at the YMCA. That’s why you played D2

Squishy123 March 5, 2014 at 7:49 pm

The same can be said about your subpar baseball team. I’m sure you’re still gloating about those successful sweeps of Columbia College.

Squishy the pussy March 5, 2014 at 9:48 pm

Nice try there pussy. Come back with something better before you come to the big boys table. I’ll send some 3rd stringers next time so you have at least a chance to not lose as bad. Pussy!!!

Squishy123 March 6, 2014 at 3:06 pm

“3rd stringers”, why don’t you just say you’re coming by yourself.

squishy the pussy March 6, 2014 at 4:34 pm

By being only good enough to play D2, it proves you weren’t even good enough to pass water out to the bench warmers you little pussy

Squishy123 March 6, 2014 at 5:45 pm

So tell us what it was like to ride the pine on a team where a successful season was a season above .500.

I guess if I could fast forward to today I could maybe have played for the classy basketball coach Dirtpecker U has. I don’t know if I could be recruited though, I’m not black nor am I a 7 foot white guy from a foreign country. “Classy” for Frankie is only screaming “FUCK!!!!” a dozen times during a 40 minute game. But having watched them, I don’t blame him at all.

Squishy the pussy March 6, 2014 at 7:24 pm

You couldn’t ever play for them to begin with, that’s why you went D2 pussy. Now refresh my water bottle.

lol. Stephen Garcia was definitely one of a kind. USC was so desperate for a QB then that he got away with basically murder.

With Tajh gone and Sammy buying his Adderall at the pro level now…Dabo sees the writing on the wall.

Unless Ga. is HORRIBLE, Clemson has little chance…and this just gets Dabo out front w/ an excuse for losing. And the media will jump to its knees to suck him off for “doing the right thing” to boot.

And as long as the wins over Wake, Maryland and BC keep coming, Dabo can sit back, count his millions. laugh at the rubes…and think of barbs to hurl at Spurrier after SS spanks that @$$ again…

Not really much of a story since Georgia always has players suspended for the 1st game too. More like a wash out with both teams.

Dabo is such a little pussy!! They probably missed prayer meeting or some other bullshit!! Punish the team and the fans!!

Lol, guessing they did something a bit worse then missing prayer meeting. Either way missing Crawford is going to hurt, he contributed quite a bit last yr.

Actually, he appears to be just the opposite. He certainly would have been one in caving to the demands of so-called fans. He did not punish the team. The suspended players did.

REAL NEWS FLASH: If everyone here is truly beneath you as you think they are, why bother coming on here at all? The logic just doesn’t make sense. The real logic would say you have some sort of envious motive behind your actions. Seems you are not nearly as smart as you think you are not to see it. I guess your dog is in fact smarter than you at least. Now run along and play with the other children, but make sure you put on a helmet.
