A taxpayer-funded bureaucrat at a failing government-run school district in South Carolina is using your time – and resources – to run a side business as a bail bondsman. And S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s administration – which has refused to investigate corruption in this particular district before – knows all about it.

Joann Faison – a benefits administrator for the Jasper County School District (official page HERE) – is currently listed on Haley’s Department of Insurance (SCDOI) website as a licensed surety bondsman (HERE).

The only problem? The “business phone,” “fax number,” “business email address” and “business web address” she provided to the Department of Insurance are all paid for by taxpayers.

Not only that, Faison admitted during a phone call that she was conducting bond business out of her government office. She even returned a call from a “wrong number” during school hours – making sure the respondent was aware she was available to discuss bail bonds.

Don’t believe us? Take a look at this screen grab from the SCDOI website …

Yeah … glad to know the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well somewhere in the Palmetto State’s worst-in-the-nation school system!

Now … will anything come of this revelation? Probably not.

Clearly Haley’s Department of Insurance doesn’t care,  and as reported previously Jasper County – home to the worst government-run school district in all of South Carolina – has a longstanding policy of rewarding failure and covering the tracks of its corrupt bureaucrats.

All we ask is that you remember Ms. Faison’s “side business” the next time a government school apologist demands that taxpayers shell out more money “for the children.”
