New Jersey Governor and 2016 establishment “Republican” presidential candidate Chris Christie issued the following statement in response to reports that his administration closed ramps to the George Washington Bridge in an effort to exact political retribution on a New Jersey mayor who did not support his gubernatorial reelection bid last year:
What I’ve seen today for the first time is unacceptable. I am outraged and deeply saddened to learn that not only was I misled by a member of my staff, but this completely inappropriate and unsanctioned conduct was made without my knowledge. One thing is clear: this type of behavior is unacceptable, and I will not tolerate it because the people of New Jersey deserve better. This behavior is not representative of me or my Administration in any way, and people will be held responsible for their actions.

What will be interesting is to see who he throws under the bus for that one and more interesting, will be seeing where that person is in NJ State Government in 2 weeks, a month, six months, or a year. Will they be sacrificed on camera for the media’s benefit, but secretly moved to another lucrative but hidden position, elsewhere as a reward for taking a hit for the team?

I was never a big fan of Christie, but unless he knew directly that his staff was up to no good, it’s not his fault, anymore than it’s not Hillary’s fault if someone below her dropped the ball.
