Millennials Bail On Obama
Millennials – which for those of you keeping score at home are Americans aged 18-29 – are done with Barack Obama.
The demographic that swept Obama to office in 2008 wants nothing to do with his socialized medicine law, according to a new Harvard University Institute of Politics study. In fact 57 percent of millennials oppose Obama’s law – and 52 percent of younger millennials (those aged 18-24) actually want to recall Obama from office.
Most troubling for Obama – who desperately needs healthy young people to sign up for Obamacare – more than half of millennials say they will not participate in the program even if they are eligible for its subsidies.
“There are very few aspects of the health-care initiative that they approve of,” John Della Volpe, the institute’s polling director, told reporters. “They think quality will decrease, that prices will increase, so it’s not surprising that has taken a significant hit to the president’s approval rating.”
Oh well … Obama is mounting a three week public relations blitz in support of the law (beginning with a White House “youth summit”). And we all know how charming his teleprompter can be, don’t we?
Harvard surveyed 2,089 millennials between October 30 and November 11. Its results have a margin of error of plus or minus 2.1 percentage points.
