This song by British rock band Muse is a couple of years old but we’ve always loved its anti-establishment lyrics (they will not force us/ they will stop degrading us/ they will not control us/ we will be victorious … etc.).
For those of you unfamiliar with this group, educate thyself …
We were late bloomers to Muse. In fact the first time we heard this song was in 2009 (when they opened for U2’s 360 degrees tour in Raleigh, N.C.).

Thank You for posting, Fits! I agree on the lyrics. Showing my age a bit, I always found something in the lyrics of “Silent Running” that was intriguing and perhaps a little prophetic, too.

Their third album was to be uplifting, but with the recent events regarding the United States and United Kingdom going to war at the Gulf and Iraq changed all of that
“In terms of general context, the world’s changed in the last year, the world events of the last year and a half. It’s not that we’re a political band but I think it’s impossible to avoid those things. I think there’s a lot of apocalyptic stuff going on in a lot of the songs. While we were recording all the war (with Iraq) was coming out and we were in the process of recording while watching that. The direction definitely took a pretty harsh change in the middle of it all.
In relation to the album it’s come across more as a general fear and mistrust of the people in power. It’s about moments of extreme fear, and a fair bit of end of the world talk.”
Don’t like rock – any kind. Cry in your beer about losing your woman if you must, but rock is not for you.
