We used to do a pseudo-daily wrap-up called “The Wire” in which we would take questions, comments and insults from our readers. Of course it’s a time consuming exercise, the sort of thing that’s really only feasible on a slow news day.
Anyway, we’re back in the saddle with another installment of “The Wire” because … well … it’s a slow news day. And while we can’t (and won’t) promise anything moving forward we do hope you enjoy today’s edition.

Ethics Commission’s dealings with Greenwood County Council continue to creep forward, as the agency has now sent notices of hearings to four current or former members and a formal dismissal order to a fifth. On Wednesday afternoon, Ethics Commission deputy director Cathy Hazelwood provided the Index-Journal with copies of notices of hearings for current Council members Gonza Bryant, Edith Childs and Robbie Templeton and former Councilman Patrick Moody.”

Hi Fitsnews! Just saw this article on WIS’s page. I wonder how effective Solicitor Dan Johnson will be in whitewashing this case for his boyz in The Lott Family (Richland County, S.C. Sheriff Leon Lott).
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, fix the comment section. Once the number of comments gets above a certain number (usually somewhere between fifteen and twenty or so) I cannot see the comments any longer. I have a MacBook Pro with Safari as browser. You guys are the only comment friendly site left in Columbia (maybe in SC) and it sucks that I cannot read your comments beyond a certain number. If you broke them up into pages such as some places used to, that might fix the problem.
Anyway, thanks for what you do and I hope you can make hay with the newest chapter to the Corruption at Columbia PD.

Brad Warthen is a huge douche. That is all.
Brad Warthen is alive? Who knew. He has been irrelevant for a decade so no matter.
But he and his handful of faithful followers are solving the city’s problems over on his blog. Don’t bother commenting, he moderates posts from anyone outside his inner circle. For what it’s worth, I’ve learned that the Richland County and City of Columbia are in fine hands and the administrations are to be commended for their hard work.
He also says that Jean Toal is honest and honorable and one of his favorite people. Good Catholics say stuff like that about each other. She is corrupt as the day is long and he knows it. What a loser.
90% of those in state legislature or in a city or county administrative role are considered “my good friend” by Brad Warthen. He’ll kiss the ass of anyone if they’ll let him hang around with them so he can pretend to stay in the political social rings around Columbia.
Amen.
Despite the FACT not a one of his politician friends helped him find a job when he was unemployed, he was and is too narcissistic to realize they were just manipulating him into some positive spin when he was on the editorial page.
USC bailed him out for a time, doing what I don’t know. I’m sure it was reported on here. He was replaced by Warren Bolton at The State, an even bigger dolt, all behind a paywall because they are going broke. Hah.

And not one of the people on his blog are in any way in any kind of political position. I’ve read his blog on and off for years and not once have I seen one single post by “my good friend XXXX”. You have the transportation department guy (bud) who got his pee pee slapped for spending all day on the blog during business hours, you have Kathryn who is an unemployed lawyer who thinks she’s a Columbia community activist, but really just the nosey old lady in the neighborhood, Silence who I think is there just to throw some humor into the blog, and Doug who is the only person there who doesn’t proudly wear a Clinton/Pelosi for 2016 t-shirt and is the only person there who has any real common sense.
I wonder how those at ADCO where Brad works feel about him spending all day working on his personal blog and collecting a paycheck? I wonder if any of the others could get away with spending all day on FaceBook.
