COLUMBIA, S.C. (September 30, 2013) — University of South Carolina offensive guard A.J. Cann has been selected as the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, it was announced today.

Cann led the charge for the Gamecocks’ offensive line that helped amass 225 yards on the ground, including 167 from Mike Davis, and four rushing touchdowns, and another 265 yards through the air in Carolina’s 28-25 win over previously undefeated UCF in Orlando on Saturday. The 6-4, 314-pound junior from Bamberg, S.C., played all 80 offensive snaps, grading out at 86 percent with no sacks or pressures. Of the Gamecocks’ 490 total yards, 326 came after intermission.

Cann is the second Gamecock offensive lineman to be honored this season. Center Clayton Stadnik was recognized for his efforts against Vanderbilt.

The No. 13/12 Gamecocks (3-1, 1-1 SEC) will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 28, when they host the Kentucky Wildcats (1-3, 0-1 SEC) at a sold-out Williams-Brice Stadium. Game time is set for 7:38 pm and the game will be televised on FSN with Bob Rathbun, Tim Couch and Elizabeth Moreau working the contest.
