First there was Strom Thurmond’s “love child,” then there was Mark Sanford’s “hike on the Appalachian Trail” which was quickly followed by the (still-denied) “raw dog” sexploits of current Gov. Nikki Haley. Not to be outdone, S.C. Sen. Robert Ford (D-Charleston) now stands accused of spending money from his campaign account at a porn store.

According to documents unearthed by the S.C. Senate ethics committee, Ford allegedly spent campaign funds at the Lion’s Den Adult Books and Video store on Interstate 26 near Bowman, S.C. Another purchase – in the amount of $63.00 – went to a Badd Kitty adult novelty shop in Charleston, S.C.
So what did he purchase? Bumpin’ Black Booties 2: Bootylicious Bugaboo? Or is Ford like most black lawmakers at the S.C. State House in that he prefers his naked women to be of the caucasian persuasion?
Or did he purchase some other item …
We’ll do our best to find out, people.
Ford, who has represented Charleston, S.C. in the Senate for the last twenty years, is facing multiple campaign finance allegations including illegal co-mingling of funds, improper reporting and failure to report contributions and loans.
UPDATE: Ford says he didn’t use campaign funds for porn but rather “gag gifts” for campaign staffers. Depending on the price of the gifts, that could actually wind up being legal as state law permits small gifts for campaign employees.
UPDATE II: Wow … now Ford is alleged to have used campaign funds to purchase male enhancement pills.
