Charleston, SC – March 8, 2013 – The Sanford for Congress campaign today filed its first FEC report, showing $334,397 raised, with a current cash balance of $364,714. The donations came from 443 donors, more than half of whom were small donors giving less than $200.

Sanford began the race with $122,000 on hand, and has spent less than that thus far getting the campaign up and running. In beginning to get the campaign’s message out, $90,342.58 has been spent, with only $14,118.02 going toward operations – keeping with Sanford’s history of running lean campaign organizations.

“I have been really humbled by the level of support our campaign has gotten. People from all walks of life have stepped forward to join our effort to get government spending under control, and I’m genuinely appreciative,” said Sanford. “I want to affect change in Washington and watch out for Lowcountry taxpayers, and this support reflects the efforts of so many who are helping us to get there and do just that.”
