Columbia, SC – South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Chad Connelly issued the following the statement today concerning the wrongful censure of State Treasurer Curtis Loftis by the South Carolina Retirement System Investment Commission.
“This morning, South Carolina’s unelected pension board voted to censure Treasurer Curtis Loftis in their latest attempt to discredit his push to bring meaningful transparency and accountability to the $26 billion Investment Commission.”
“In 2010, Treasurer Loftis promised to protect our money and expose those who mismanage our funds and hide behind the veil of bureaucracy. As State Treasurer, he has excelled at looking out for the interests of all South Carolinians. ”
“I commend Curtis for keeping his promises to the people of South Carolina and for not backing down in the face of enormous opposition in his pursuit to protect the taxpayers of our State.”
