To my Friends and Supporters:

Having my name mentioned for higher office is flattering, often amusing and usually harmless.

But recently those who oppose our efforts to bring transparency and accountability to how your money is managed have been using that harmless parlor game to thwart our efforts. Inside the corridors of power the special interest whispers that “it is all about Curt running for governor.”

Nothing could be further from the truth. Being your State Treasurer is an honor and privilege that summons my complete attention every day. I love my job and I am blessed with an excellent staff and frankly there is nowhere I would rather be!

This announcement was planned for much later in the year but we can’t sit idly by and let special interest halt our work…they simply can’t use me to keep their hold on your money!

I honor the trust you gave me on November 2nd, 2010, so it is important to me that you be among the first to know of my plans to seek reelection as your State Treasurer. I want to put an end to their political games and to continue the drive for transparency and accountability.

This is a serious letter from me to you. It is not a standard political e-mail about fundraising or volunteering or candidate self-promotion. This is about my earnest desire to continue my service to South Carolina and it is about seeking your thoughtful approval and guidance. It is only with them that our goals can be achieved and that our work can have lasting value to South Carolina.

I hope to see you or hear from you in the near future. Please be well and enjoy this day.

Sincerely,

Curtis M. Loftis, Jr.

Curtis Loftis is an excellent treasurer and I am glad he put down the rumors and made it clear he was going to finish the job he started.

Good leadership form a good man.
