“Having Tim Scott as our new Senator is a big step forward for South Carolina.
“The South Carolina African-American Chamber of Commerce was formed because of the need to to educate young people about entrepreneurship and commerce, and to promote the values of self-reliance, hard-work, innovation, volunteerism and civic engagement. Tim Scott embodies those same values.
“As a small businessman from humble beginnings, he brings a unique perspective — and a badly-needed perspective — to Washington. But the real value in Tim’s rise to the U.S. Senate will be its ability to inspire young African-Americans to aim high, to blaze trails, to think independently, and to lead rather than follow.”
