To the wire!
TIP: ROMNEY CAMPAIGN BEING BANKROLLED
Did you see this?
FITS: Yeah … rich investors bankrolling liberal Republicans is about as surprising as Hollywood liberals bankrolling even “liberaler” Democrats.
COMMENT: BEN BERNANKE CHANGING HIS TUNE
April 2012: The Fed, confident that the economy is improving, says it will not do more to reduce unemployment, in part because it is constrained by its responsibility to control inflation.
“Does it make sense to actively seek a higher inflation rate in order to achieve … a slightly increased pace of reduction in the unemployment rate? The view of the committee is that that would be very reckless.” CHAIRMAN BEN S. BERNANKE, APRIL 25, 2012
Thursday (9/13/12):The Fed announces a sweeping new program to accelerate the recovery. It says that it will buy mortgage bonds at a rate of $40 billion a month until the jobs outlook improves, and that it does not expect to raise interest rates until mid-2015. Inflation is discounted as a constraint.
“A highly accommodative stance of monetary policy will remain appropriate for a considerable time after the economic recovery strengthens.” COMMITTEE RELEASE, SEPT. 13, 2012
FITS: Yeah, JIm … we’ve been railing at all this money-printing for some time now. Yet they keep printing it …
TIP: JENNY SANFORD IS DOWNSIZING
FITS: Rich … people … problems.
QUESTION: NO NIKKI HALEY BASHING?
You were pretty quiet on bashing our governor last week. Did the two of you get back together or something?
FITS: Ha! No … Haley was in Japan last week.
QUESTION: “WHO’S THAT GIRL?”
Who is Colleen MacMillan?
Your contributions usually have a short bio of the contributing author. Is Colleen a citizen of Laurens County, a person of “standing”, or associated with the Laurens County Citizen’s Watch website?
FITS: Colleen is a new reporter working with us here at FITS. We will have a tag (and email) for her momentarily. In addition to the Laurens County story, Colleen also published a great recap of a recent audit of South Carolina’s failed “First Steps” program. Be on the lookout for much more from her in the coming days/ weeks/ months.
TIP: S.C. REP. CHIP LIMEHOUSE COMING UNHINGED
Check out these links:
House members brawl over airport appointment: here.
Charleston Airport board to reconsider vote: here.
P&C Editorial blasting Limehouse: here.
FITS: Don’t you know that if you make Chip Limehouse angry there’s a better than average chance that he will try to eat you?
TIP: CORRUPTION IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY
I believe that the Fairfield GOP Chairman may have broken the law during the ballot fiasco. Originally, there were two GOP candidates for the SC Senate 17 race; Bob Carrison and Morgan Bruce Reeves. However, during the primary before Mr. Reeves was removed from the ballot, Kevin Thomas, the Fairfield GOP Chairman, wrote Bob Carrison a $1,000 check for his campaign on April 11th. Now, this is where things get interesting. When filing took place, Carrison filed his SEI on 4/17/12 while Reeves filed his SEI on 5/7/12, meaning that both of them should have been thrown off of the ballot. However, when it came time to re-certify candidates, guess who Thomas decided to re-certify… Bob Carrison. At the same time, Dr. Reeves was dumped insuring that Carrison would move on to November. I felt this was something worth looking into. We shouldn’t have GOP Chairman picking which candidates they want on the ballot and which ones they don’t, especially when the Chairman making that decision is financially invested in one of the candidates.
FITS: Corruption in rural South Carolina? Say it ain’t so … kidding, kidding of course. It would only be shocking if there were a local government in this state that wasn’t corrupt. Let us check into this …
TIP: NEW DUMP
Check out the attached from WSPA. Many levels of curruption going on here, with former Lt. Gov. Bob Peeler all up in the mix of it.
FITS: “It’s a great day …” for trash.
QUESTION: YOUNG REPUBLICAN TWITTER FIGHT
So I read this column and the resulting Twitter fight and I still have no idea what happened. Can someone who was there fill me in? And have people not learned to ignore Will Folks and his antics?
FITS: HA! Believe it or not our founding editor was on his best behavior at this event. Based on what we’ve been told the drama centered around another member of the panel, but the author of the post chose not to publicly call that person out.
COMMENT: YOUNG REPUBLICAN TWITTER FIGHT
Does your wife know you were at the Alehouse until all hours of the night las week with the bisexual “author” of your young Republican column and one of her bisexual lovers? Does your wife further know you are sleeping with both of these impressionable young women?
FITS: Busted! These days 10:00 p.m. really is “all hours of the night” for our founding editor …
QUESTION: HOW CAN MUSC GET AWAY WITH IT?
How can the Medical University of South Carolina do this when they pay physicians so poorly and even had the nerve this year to put up a serious restrictive covenant to prevent them from leaving. How can the state of SC issue a restrictive covenant to a state worker to prevent them from working elsewhere?
FITS: You’d be surprised what government can get away with in this state … or maybe not. Corrupt politicians + lazy press + dumb populace = unnecessary spending galore.
TIP: SCDHEC HIRES CRITICIZED
ok Will…they JUST published the state salary list and I am just gasping how Catherine Templeton has hired her general counsel at the MAX allowed by the budget and control board salary allowance…see below…

Attorneys, accountants (head agency accountants), and HR directors typically topped out as the following: Attorney V, account fiscal/manager II, HR Director II….now there are attorney vi, account fiscal manager iii, and HR Director III. I urge you to look at the various websites, and compare them to salaries…I am baffled on how Templeton just DOES what she wants and how the budget and control board just rubber stamped her salary request at the TOP of the attorney vi (band 10) range??!? It is the MAX that you can get. I urge you to look into this. Remember Niki sits on the budget and control board and obviously ram roded it through the salary review commission.
Below is the list of the DHEC list just published…..
Name Agency Job Title Salary
LISA WADDELL DEPT OF HEALTH AND ENV CONTROL DPTY/DIV DIRECTOR-EXEC COMP $ 164,817.00
WILLIAM TAYLOR DEPT OF HEALTH AND ENV CONTROL ATTORNEY VI $ 153,864.00
CATHERINE TEMPLETON DEPT OF HEALTH AND ENV CONTROL AGENCY HEAD $ 151,942.00
COVIA STANLEY DEPT OF HEALTH AND ENV CONTROL PHYSICIAN II $ 142,034.00
This is an example of the gross excesses of how private sector folks come to state government and get the most they can. However, they complain about overpaid/compensated government employees. This is the height of hypocrisy. I don’t doubt the infusion of private sector ideas and people help to revitalize government but this is ridiculous…I mean, really????
FITS: Inneresting …
COMMENT RE: KATE MIDDLETON
Your site has been reported to the HRH.
FITS: Really? We shudder in fear …
Is there any truth to the rumor that a number of petition candidates can be removed from the ballot because they failed to update their SEI’s online to reflect the day that they filed their petition? The Attorney General has said that all of those who were kicked off of the ballot were never candidates in the first place, so does that mean they had to redo their paperwork? The word going around is that those who filed wrong the first time were supposed to update their SEI’s in order to signify that they were filing again and to reflect the new date that their candidacy began. The Ethics Commission says that SEI’s can only be filed when someone becomes a candidate for office, so a petition candidate only became a candidate when the filed their petition which would mean that they had to file their SEI online on the same day that they filed their petition. A few did that, but for the most part, many didn’t.
FITS: Good question … S.C. state law – section 8-13-1356(B) says that “a candidate must file a statement of economic interests for the preceding calendar year at the same time and with the same official with whom the candidate files a declaration of candidacy or petition for nomination.” It does not matter if this form is dated in March or July, as long as it is for the preceding calendar year. There is nothing in the statute that says the SEI has to be dated the same day that the candidate statement is filed.
TIP: NEW SOUTH CAROLINA BLOG
I recently started a new blog called Carolina Jotham, a blog that advocates limited government through the biblical witness. Both my blog and I are based in South Carolina and I’ve been a long-time fan of FITS. I am trying to get some publicity and new readership for my blog, and I believe many of your readers would be interested in my new project. I would really appreciate it if you would consider using my most recent post, “Misplaced Hero Worship and its Ideological Legacy,” as a guest editorial on your site.
FITS: Interesting take … we love it when people go Old Testament on that ass.
TIP: THOMAS RAVENEL’S NEW FRIEND
Thought you might enjoy this picture your friend T-Rav just posted to his Facebook page:
FITS: Hey … we filmed a commercial for T-Rav on that porch back in 2006. Damn … now that’s something you would never see on Lindsey Graham’s front porch.
TIP: YOUR GIRL ABI
Will: I know you have featured Abi before on your website but I thought you would enjoy these pics of her taken during a recent torrential downpour in Charleston …
FITS: Um … YES! We love Abi. And for those of you unfamiliar w/ her work, be sure to check her out for yourself.
SOUTH CAROLINA FAST FACT: In the 1936 presidential election, 98.6 percent of South Carolinians voted for Franklin D. Roosevelt.
