“UPON FURTHER REVIEW …”
When does your run-of-the-mill traffic ticket become a much bigger deal?
That’s easy … when it involves a high-profile motorist showing his or her ass to the police (and allegedly getting preferential treatment from the cops in spite of their attitude). Now … is that what happened earlier this month with Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney?
We don’t know … at least not yet. At this point all we know is that Swinney was pulled over for speeding in Pickens County, S.C. last week and cited for driving 55 miles per hour in a 35 miles per hour zone.
Is that the end of it, though? According to several law enforcement sources we’ve spoken with, “no.” In fact there are all sorts of rumors flying around on college football message boards related to this incident – most of which portray Swinney in a most unflattering light. There’s also an allegation that Swinney was traveling at 63 miles per hour when he was clocked by the arresting officer.
In an effort to separate fact from fiction, FITS is submitting a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request seeking a copy of the “Dabo Dash Cam” video. We’ll be sure to post the video as soon as it is provided to us …
We hope the rumors are false and that Swinney handled himself with class. After all, he’s made it clear that he loves Jesus – perhaps more than any college football coach save for Georgia’s Mark Richt (who may actually be Jesus).
