Peeler issues statement on suit to remove Vaughters from ballot
Columbia, SC – September 11, 2012 – Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler released the following statement on a frivolous lawsuit filed today in Aiken County, seeking to get conservative Republican Senate candidate DeeDee Vaughters removed from the November ballot:
“Democrats don’t have a good track record winning on issues in South Carolina, so it’s no wonder they want our elections decided in the courts,” Peeler said. ” Democrats see the writing on the wall in November, and they know DeeDee is a candidate that can win in Aiken and Lexington counties. I have full confidence this lawsuit will be defeated, that DeeDee will remain on the ballot, and that she can win in November. This is nothing more than Dick Harpootlian and his minions – in this case one of his former employees – trying to create a distraction. Despite what Harpootlian thinks about voters, people in District 26 are smart enough to see this stunt for what it is.”
