That Arkansas Chick Is Coming To South Carolina
EX-MISTRESS OF BOBBY PETRINO HEADED TO COLUMBIA
Watch out, “Head Ball Coach …”
Jessica Dorrell – the 25-year-old blonde bombshell whose affair with former Arkansas head football coach Bobby Petrino exploded onto the national scene back in April – is reportedly headed to Columbia, S.C.
According to our sources, Dorrell’s fiance Josh Morgan – the former operations director for Arkansas’ swimming and diving program – has been hired as the new strength and conditioning coach for the University of South Carolina men’s and women’s swimming programs. In fact Morgan and Dorrell were said to have been in Columbia, S.C. last weekend being feted by a group of “very wealthy USC donors.”
Morgan’s hiring has yet to be announced by the USC athletics department and calls to a school spokesman were not immediately returned.
Other sources close to the USC athletics department claim that Morgan is merely being “considered” for the post.
Dorrell was an all-SEC volleyball player at Arkansas who was hired by Petrino as the student-athlete development coordinator for the Arkansas football program. She and Morgan – who are reportedly still together – were supposed to be married on June 9, however those plans blew up when Petrino crashed his motorcycle (with Dorrell aboard) on a rural Arkansas road in early April.
Petrino – a married father of four – suffered cracked vertebrae, broken ribs and a sprained neck as a result of the accident.
The coach initially claimed that he was alone at the time of the crash – part of an effort to conceal his affair with a subordinate from his family and from University officials.
The day after the crash, the school issued a statement saying that “Coach Petrino was involved in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening that involved no other individuals.” Meanwhile Petrino’s version of events merely referenced “a lady there that had flagged down a car.”
An Arkansas State Police report later revealed that Dorrell was with Petrino at the time of the accident.
Petrino, 51, was fired a few days later for engaging in what the school referred to as “a pattern of misleading and manipulative behavior … both before and after the motorcycle accident.”
Petrino posted a 34-17 mark at Arkansas – including a 21-5 record over the past two seasons. His Razorbacks finished the 2011 season with a Cotton Bowl victory and a No. 5 national ranking. Arkansas defeated South Carolina 44-28 in Fayetteville last season – its third straight lopsided win over head coach Steve Spurrier’s team.
UPDATE: USC spokesman Steve Fink has just confirmed Morgan’s hiring.
