TOP DEFENSIVE LINEMAN NARROWS CHOICE TO USC, GEORGIA
Kelsey Griffin is a 6-foot-2, 290-pound defensive tackle from Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, Georgia. According to 247Sports.com, this rising senior is the fifth-rated defensive tackle in the nation and the eighth-best high school player in Georgia.
In other words, he’s the sort of player who always chose Georgia, Auburn, Florida or Tennessee – and never gave so much as a thought about coming to play for the University of South Carolina.
How things have changed …
According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Griffin has narrowed his college choice down to two schools: Georgia and South Carolina.
“I can’t really say one is ahead of the other, Griffin told the paper. “I don’t know. It’s hard to decide. Both are pretty equal.”
Earlier this month our new sports columnist John Loveday wrote an expansive piece about how the secret to South Carolina’s success in recent years was its ability to retain top in-state talent.
Now it looks like we’re going in the poaching business …
