GOVERNOR TO CAMPAIGN FOR MITT ROMNEY
S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley will travel to Michigan this week to campaign on behalf of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.
According to a press release from the Romney campaign, Haley will attend the opening of Romney “victory” offices in Ann Arbor and Lansing on Tuesday, while participating in a “Built By Us” roundtable in Lansing. Haley will also attend a Romney fundraiser in downtown Detroit on Tuesday evening.
“Governor Haley will highlight Governor Romney’s plan to unleash the power of the American entrepreneurial spirit and create jobs for middle-class Michiganders who have been especially hurt in this Obama economy,” a Romney spokesman told The Detroit News.
Really? Michigan’s unemployment rate was 8.6 percent in June – compared to South Carolina’s 9.4 percent rate, the nation’s fifth-highest.
Nonetheless, the Detroit paper billed Haley as a “tea party star” and “potential Romney VP pick.”
