LIMITED GOVERNMENT HERO TO RAISE MONEY FOR STATE SENATOR TOM DAVIS
U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) will be back in South Carolina later this summer to raise money for S.C. Sen. Tom Davis – one of his most vocal supporters during the 2012 Republican presidential primary.
Paul will appear at a Columbia, S.C. fundraiser for Davis on August 6.
(For more information on the event, click here).
Davis endorsed Paul in advance of the state’s “First in the South” presidential primary in January. And while Paul finished fourth in the statewide election, he grew his percentage of the GOP electorate in South Carolina by more than 261 percent from 2008. In fact Paul received nearly 80,000 votes in South Carolina in 2012 – five times the 16,000 votes he received here four years ago.
One of the few true reformers in state government, Davis has aggressively pushed for the creation of a taxpayer rebate fund as well as aggressive government restructurin legislation (unlike S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley, who has grown government and supported watered-down restructuring bills).
Davis is widely viewed as a credible challenger to either Haley or U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham in 2014.
