WHEREFORE ART THOU, DONKEYS?
Since the vast majority of South Carolina “Republicans” spend money like Democrats, it only makes sense that they would seek out their votes come election time. That goes for “Republican in Name Only” candidates, too, who are reportedly engaging Democratic operatives in an effort to turn out the donkey vote in their 2012 GOP primaries.
Two Lowcountry candidates in particular – Sean Bennett and Ed Carter – are said to be working with Democratic operatives in an effort to lure “progressive” voters to their cause in this month’s Republican primary election. Sheesh … and we wonder why nothing ever changes at the S.C. State House? These candidates tell voters they’re “conservatives” on the one hand while they chase Democratic votes on the other.
Anyway, this website has made clear its disdain for Bennett, a crony capitalist big government Republican who is seeking the S.C. Senate seat currently held by Mike Rose (generally a reliable vote when it comes to protecting our tax dollars). We’ve also exposed the checkered past of Carter, another left-leaning “GOP” candidate seeking a Lowcountry seat in the S.C. House of Representatives.
More importantly, we’ve regularly lambasted S.C. Rep. Jenny Horne (RINO-Summerville), a fiscal liberal who is aggressively supporting both of these candidates.
Horne (as our regular readers will recall) recently sought to elevate her status within the GOP leadership by trying to kill a scaled-down parental choice proposal.
Amazing, isn’t it? We honestly don’t know what’s worse – politicians seeking to advance their careers on the backs of poor, low income students trapped in failing schools or the climate that exists at the S.C. State House which encourages such behavior.
Oh well … we hope that GOP voters in the Lowcountry educate themselves regarding these “Republicans,” but we’re not holding our breath …
