… AND WANTS THE WORLD TO KNOW IT
When we last caught up with Thad Viers he was exiting a congressional race and resigning his office in disgrace amid allegations that he harassed his ex-girlfriend.
Bummer, right?
Of course the deeper we delved into this (former) state lawmaker’s soap opera, the more we realized he wasn’t so much a menacing tool as he was a lovestruck fool (albeit in possession of an extraordinarily healthy libido). It’s also pretty clear to us that there was a political component to the prosecution against him – maybe not as it relates to his arrest, but we do believe that politics played a role in the choice of charges against him (and the conduct of negotiations related to those charges).

Anyway, Viers has had a few flirtations since his nasty breakup with barbecue heiress Candace Bessinger (bow chick here), but nothing has stuck … at least until now.
According to our sources, Viers has a new steady girlfriend … one that gives new meaning to the term “outkicked the coverage” (i.e. when a man’s grasp exceeds his reach in terms of a mate).
Who are we referring to? Try Kathryn Dennis – (click here and here) – the scion of a pair of prominent Palmetto political families and hands down one of the hottest (if not the hottest) woman in the entire state.
How did Viers manage to pull this off? We’re not sure but the report of his budding relationship with Dennis was burning up the South Carolina Twitterverse late Tuesday evening … prompting our founding editor to weigh in.
“Thad Viers going from that BBQ princess to Kathryn Dennis is like giving up a defective pinto and getting a Phantom 6,” Will Folks (a.k.a. Sic Willie) noted on his Twitter page.

Dennis, 20, is an up-and-coming young political writer/ operative who models in her spare time. In fact she’s got a shoot scheduled in Washington, D.C. next month and is reportedly being scouted by Victoria’s Secret given her stunning looks and 5-foot-11 frame (that’s without heels, people).
“If South Carolina was a monarchy and not an ass-backward banana republic, then (Dennis) would be your queen,” we remarked recently, which we suppose would make Viers your Duke of the (Redneck) Riviera.
Hey … he’s not complaining.
Clint Eastwood’s Dirty Harry character remarked in Magnum Force that a “man’s got to know his limitations.” Clearly Viers hasn’t figured that out yet … and God bless him for that.
