Ron Paul suspended his presidential campaign this week … at least the part of it that’s focused on winning votes. His campaign to win delegates to the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida on the other hand? That effort is ongoing …

“Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process,” Paul said in a statement. “We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.”

No argument there …

In fact Paul promised that his campaign leadership team would soon “lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned.”

“Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted,” Paul acknowledged. “Doing so (without) any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have. I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support.”

Hmmmm …

Obviously we’re sad to see the curtain fall on any facet of Paul’s candidacy … which this website enthusiastically endorsed.

In an American political climate long on rhetoric but short on responsibility, Paul was once again the rare exception – the candidate whose fiscal policies matched his stated views. We hope that he and his supporters continue taking a long overdue 2 X 4 to the ethically barren and ideologically bankrupt Republican Party.

We know that’s what we’ll be doing …
