NIKKI HALEY APPROVAL RATING
QUESTION: I can’t believe her approval went UP. Are people that stupid?
FITS: Actually given the increasingly optimistic views that most South Carolinians have regarding the economy, we’re suprised Haley didn’t see a more pronounced increase. We were expecting her to clock in at somewhere between 40-45 percent approval, and she was still stuck in the thirties. But to answer your question … yes, South Carolinians are that stupid.

NIKKI HALEY SCGOP SCANDAL
QUESTION: Does the Taylor Hall shit rekindle impeachment talk? Word on the street is nothing will come of it. No one believes they will do it. Also the Dems want Vincent Sheheen to run against her again.
FITS: Good question/ observations … one thing is for certain, lawmakers interested in impeaching Haley received fresh motivation (the Hall fiasco) and fresh encouragement (Haley’s largely static poll numbers) this week.

COMMENT: You should change your name to the anti Haley National Enquirer. The crap on your pages looks much like the lies and garbage they publish. Don’t be jealous about Haley’s win.

FITS: Yes, we are on Chris Cillizza’s mailing list … interesting story. The “Can’t Is Not An Option” tour has clearly rehabilitated Nikki Haley’s vice presidential prospects.

SC BALLOT LAWSUIT
QUESTION: What do you think the Supreme Court will do with this case?
FITS: Good question … in fact we weighed in on it here. What will the court do? That’s anybody’s guess …

SCANDAL IN WAITING AT CABINET AGENCY
TIP: Start looking at SCDPPPS and its Director, Kela Thomas. She is doing everything in her power behind the scenes to sabotage the proposed merger with SCDC, despite the Governor’s instructions to the contrary. Now she has terminated the chief lawyer at SCDPPPS after no more than six months of employment. She dodged Senator Fair’s direct question about whether she supports the SCDC/SCDPPPS merger at least two times in a committee meeting. Seems like she does not understand what it means to be the Director of a cabinet agency. Also take a look at her recent “certification” as a Class 1 Officer. Very questionable performance on the firing range and in other areas.
FITS: Somebody who works for Nikki Haley can’t shoot straight? Color us shocked!

CITADEL SEX ABUSE SCANDAL
COMMENT: I am a former attorney who has felt the wrath of the SC Supreme Court. Despite having no disciplinary history the high court suspended my license for six over what can be best discribed as a dispute over client funds with former partners. That is why it shocks me that the court sits by and does nothing about fellow attorneys that helped cover up child sex abuse. I am of course speaking about members of the Citadel Board of Visitors. W.E.Jenkinson, III aka Billy is a well connected Citadel Man who served as the Chairman of the board of visitors during the years that the most recent case of sex abuse occurred at El Cid. Mr. Jenkinson is an attorney who participated in the coverup of child sex abuse!!! However, because he is friends with Jean Toal and powerful SC Senator Yancey McGill he is not even investigated. I know he and other lawyers on the board knew but did nothing. The rules governing lawyer conduct are clear that attorneys may not engage in conduct unbecoming of the profession. I think covering up child abuse would qualify. It surprises me that no one will look into this. I guess the good ole boys at the Citadel can do whatever they want.
FITS: The Citadel truly dropped the ball on this. Don’t know about Jenkinson in particular but if you say so …

HEALTH RECORDS SCANDAL
TIP: Re: Chris Lykes
He’s also the grandson of Wilbur Lee Jeffcoat, who was 1st Vice Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party under Carol Fowler. Jeffcoat has also held some Lex. Co DP positions.
Very unfortunate.
Source: Lykes attended some of the events that Trav Robertson held for Blaine Lotz in the democratic primary campaign between Blaine Lotz and Rob Miller in 2008 to challenge Joe Wilson.
FITS: It’s like every other scandal in South Carolina, though. Lykes will go down but the powerful people he was working for will get off …

MILITARY BACKLASH
COMMENT: Very disappointed that a so-called “conservative” SC political blog has taken to demeaning currently serving enlisted soldiers as “hoodlums” (due to the actions of a tiny number). Having grown up as a military brat in the post-Vietnam period, I can remember the pain brought to those serving when Liberals attacked servicemembers. It is one thing to criticize policy decisions, it is never justified to attack those protecting our free speech. We learned that lesson after Vietnam and it needs to stop now. – Bill Connor, Orangeburg, S.C.

DEMOCRATIC PARTY CHAIRMAN ACCUSED OF CONFLICT
TIP: Richland County Councilman Norman Jackson is running for State Senate Distrist 20. The campaign has concerns that Democratic Party Chairman Dick Hapootlian is backing Jackson’s opponent a former law partner of Harpootlian. It’s alleged that he held campaign rallies and fundraisers for his recruit. If this is true then as chair of the party, Mr. Harpootlian should step down from chair and support his choice or stay out of the primaries race as chair of the party.
FITS: Interesting … this is probably worth a call over to the S.C. Democratic Party.

FIRE MARSHAL SCAM
TIP: It’s been well documented that the current administration has no problem rewarding those who treat taxpayers like toilet paper. John Reich oversaw the forced molestation of our pocketbooks by enforcing deliberately misinterpreted and mis-applied fire codes masterminded by Bill Galloway over a four year period. According to secretly recorded audio the whistle blower lost his career due to Galloway’s threat to his company of 27 years two weeks prior to the release of the LAC investigation results. Mr. Reich then promptly sent a certified letter invalidating his work license. John Reich is now curator of the state fire museum while Bill Galloway had a new position invented for him- which was designed to keep history from repeating itself. To all state employees who are tired of working for your paycheck, you have three years to abuse your authority, neglect your responsibility, and threaten those who stand in your way. You will then be put on easy street for life.
FITS: “Forced molestation of our pocketbooks …” that’s pretty good! You need to come write for us!
