Harvell Files For South Carolina Senate
Belton, SC – March 30, 2012 – Riley Harvell filed on Friday morning to seek election to the South Carolina State Senate to represent district 4. Riley was raised in the district and he and his wife, Erin, now live outside Belton with their two boys, Olin and Adger.
For the past 10 years, Riley has worked at the state and local level as a volunteer for the conservative movement. From county council to statewide reform initiatives, Riley believes in the power of politics to change our state for the good. Less government, less regulation, and lower taxes are the simple solutions that Riley plans to campaign for and promote if elected to the SC Senate.
Most of all, Riley says he is running out of a sense of duty for the future. “After months of prayer and long talks with my family, I felt God made it clear that we should step up for the future of our children. Therefore, today I am announcing that I will run for the State Senate,” said Riley.
“The decisions made in Columbia today are not going to affect many of the politicians making them, and there is something wrong with that. Their decisions are going to affect my family, and our generations. We are the parents of children going to public schools, we are the generation building businesses, and we are the generation who will inherit the mistakes being made in Columbia. I was raised to believe that politicians should be servants, safeguarding the future of South Carolina. I want to serve this state as a voice for the generation that is inheriting the state. It is time for a fresh voice of reason in the Senate.”
Riley founded a small business in 2011 that works with non-profit organizations across the state. Additionally, Riley serves as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps Reserve based out of Greenville, SC. In 2008, Riley was deployed to Iraq and currently serves as the Company Training NCO for Ammunition Company (-) Greenville, SC. “I joined the Marine Corps at 18,” said Riley, “Our core values are Honor, Courage, and Commitment. Honor, or Integrity to do the right thing even when no one is looking, Courage to stand alone and defend what is right, and Commitment to this country, my family, and my God.”
