Columbia, SC – South Carolina Senate Democrats’ plan to give state income tax filers a detailed receipt outlining how their tax dollars are spent was passed the state Senate unanimously.
State income tax filers will receive a receipt detailing how their tax dollars are spent. Similar to the chart many counties provide in receipts to property tax payers, Senator Vincent Sheheen’s plan gives people a detailed view on just where their money is going.
Senator Sheheen issued the following statement:
“This is a great day for real accountability in South Carolina. Taxpayers deserve to know where their dollars are going in state government. I want them to be empowered with information.
“The House should join us and pass this common sense reform and the Governor should commit to sign this bill.”
