Columbia, S.C. – South Carolina Republican Party Chairman Chad Connelly today praised the South Carolina Senate upon its passage of the Department of Administration bill (H. 3066). The bill, championed by Governor Nikki Haley and key Republicans, abolishes South Carolina’s antiquated Budget and Control Board and moves important functions of government to their appropriate branches.
“Governor Haley and our Senate Republican Caucus deserve great praise for leading the way in making state government more accountable,” said Connelly.
“This is a long overdue reform, and I am pleased that so many Democrats agree with our Republican platform of good government.”

Haley does not deserve the praise for the Restructuring Bill – she didn’t do any of the work on it other than bully people around telling them to do the work. Vincent Sheheen, Tom Davis and Shane Massey all deserve credit for the Restructuring. Hopefully this bill will also provide additional oversight of Queen Haley – she needs it – not a week goes by that she is not involved in some kind of scandal or screw up.

If you read the Bill you may be interested to note that while it does abolish the Budget and Control Board, it also creates about a dozen new, independent Boards, Authorities, and Commissions. This is a net gain of eleven state agencies. This is Restructuring alright.

Just more places for Haley to appoint retired Generals at big pay, who know nothing about the job they do.
