SCDHEC Board Selects Catherine Templeton

The S.C. Board of Health and Environmental Control is pleased to announce that it has completed its search for our new Commissioner. Over the last four months, the Board and its search committee have reviewed several hundred applications, conducted numerous interviews and brought three very qualified candidates before the full Board. We are thankful to all those, especially staff, who have assisted us in this search.

We are pleased to present to you our final candidate, Ms. Catherine Templeton, who will be presented to the Governor’s office for approval. If approved by the Governor, the candidate will then be submitted to the Senate for advice and consent. In the interim, we have named Mr. Bob King as acting Commissioner.

This Board is committed to the success of this agency and to the employees who make it successful. Anytime there is a change in leadership there is speculation about the future. I can assure you that our future will be one of continued success as we work toward protecting the environment and the health of the citizens of our great State.

Allen Amsler
Board Chairman
