We were looking for a good excuse to use “Rats” as our song of the day here on FITS … and now we have one. And in the words of one of our favorite limited government supporters, it will make your “blood boil” but also probably cause you to simultaneously “laugh (your) ass off.”
According to an interview he gave on WMAL radio in Washington, D.C., Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is afraid that a new District of Columbia rat law is going to result in a veritable parade of vermin crossing the Potomac River into his state.
“Last year, in its finite wisdom, the D.C. City Council passed a law – a triumph of animal rights over human health – where those pest control people … aren’t allowed to kill the rats,” Cuccinelli explained. “They have to relocate the rats. And not only that – that’s really not the worst part – they can’t break of the families of the rats.”
“It’s worse than our immigration policy,” Cuccinelli added.
Wait …
Supporters of the so-called “Wildlife Protection Act of 2010″ say Cuccinelli is exaggerating – and that his interpretation of the law is too rigid.
They say the legislation only applies to raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, skunks and pigeons – and is designed to encourage humane animal trapping of these species. “Commensal rodents” are exempted from the measure, they say.
Either way, it’s pretty ironic that the leaders of our nation’s capital seems to care more for the various overpopulated animal species in the District than they do for human children trapped in the city’s failing schools.

Well, no wonder the establishment wants “Willard” in Washington.

Maybe we can turn the law on the rats sitting in power in DC and “relocate” them.
Is their a definition of “rat” in the law or can it be broadly interpreted?

Remove all the rats from Washington and the beltway commutes will get a lot easier.

I thought DC has a school choice program. So the schools are still failing despite there being school choice.
