SCDP: “It’s Time For Alan Wilson To Do His Job”

(Columbia, SC) – Republican Lieutenant Governor, Ken Ard, has endorsed Newt Gingrich for President in the South Carolina Presidential Primary.

However, by doing so, he has broken another South Carolina Ethic Law by offering the endorsement on his official lieutenant governor stationary with his seal attached. Elected officials are prohibited from using taxpayer-funded office resources for political purposes.

In response to the most recent display of Lt. Gov. Ard ignoring ethic laws, Chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party, Dick Harpootlian, released the following statement:

When will Attorney General Alan Wilson stop playing political games and start acting like a prosecutor? It has been over six months since many, including the Democratic Party, brought to light Ard’s practices during the 2010 campaign which raised serious questions about whether or not he violated the law.

Republican Wilson has been in slow motion in either clearing or charging Ard with these alleged criminal violations.

Now we learn Ard has done it again. This time using our tax dollars to profit another political campaign.

As the South Carolina Senate returns to Columbia with Ard as the highest ranking Republican in the Senate, one has to wonder, is the Republican Senate Caucus a political party or a crime family?
