“Full Spectrum” Conservatives In SC Back Paul

U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum brags about being a “full spectrum” conservative in his television ads, but it’s U.S. Rep. Ron Paul who is receiving the support of elected officials in South Carolina who fit that description.

In fact, as reported exclusively on FITS earlier this week, a trio of fiscal/ social conservative State Senators from the vote-rich S.C. Upstate will throw their support behind Paul just four days before the state’s pivotal “First in the South” presidential primary.

S.C. Senators Lee Bright (R-Spartanburg), Kevin Bryant (R-Anderson) and Danny Verdin (R-Laurens) – all of whom  have exemplary fiscal records as well as strong social conservative credentials – will announce their support for Paul at a press conference at the S.C. State House on Tuesday. Paul will join them at the event.

Their support comes just days after S.C. Sen. Tom Davis – arguably the most influential conservative lawmaker in state government – announced his support for Paul.

“We have a choice: We can keep electing candidates who talk about change only during political campaigns as a way to get elected, or we can finally elect a candidate who will walk the walk and make that change a reality – restoring our bottom line, our individual liberties and our national pride in the process,” Davis said in endorsing Paul.

FITS has spoken with two other State Senators who say they are “strongly considering” an endorsement of Paul’s campaign.

Meanwhile, Santorum is expected to get some good news in the form of an endorsement from S.C. Sen. Larry Grooms – who withdrew his support for Rick Perry on Monday in a statement calling on the Texas Governor to withdraw from the race.

“With only days to go before the South Carolina Primary, it is apparent that Governor Perry cannot win and has no viable strategy in moving forward,” Grooms said. “Remaining in the race at this point only serves to steer votes away from viable candidates.”

Good for them for standing up and endorsing a candidate.

Little Shit-zu Lindsey was on Meet the Press whining about the candidates being mean to Mitt. Then asked if he was endorsing Mitt, he said “I don’t know who I’m voting for.” Shit-zu woose.

Any “leader” supporting this moron after his painful performance last night ought to resign from public office – no wonder South Carolina is in such pitiful shape.

It’s not like any of the other candidates have never had a bad performance, although the timing of Paul’s was about the worst I can imagine.

First, hammer away on Perry staying in the race, I know Fred Thompson, and Perry, you are no Fred Thompson, and you are diminishing the State of Texas every time you speak.

Ron Paul continues to scare the shit out of the organized parties simply because he speaks the truth and both parties know that independents are out there and fed up with both parties.

Every debate you see that Romney can not answer a direct question, disambiguation is the primary weapon of the Mormon elite, but Hilary or Barry will have the MSM to keep him from squirming. If Santorum had a clue he would have demanded Romney state without reservation, not probably, that he would release tax returns, and when the Mormon said that he would in April, as had others who were to be nominated, then someone who wanted to win would say, why not now, what are you hiding.

Demint is losing my respect letting others like Henderson in the Upstate support Mitt, while he tries to cover with Paul for some and Newt with others.

Squishy is the best I can say, and for those that whisper this is brilliance as another Barry term would allow juxtiposition of Demint, to cute by half Jim.

Santorum, the problem is that you have no one to make a deal for you, because there were no SC staffers left to hire, so either Gresham is letting you down, or you are waiting for some type of hand job by Trikki, so wake up and decide that no Mormon is going to make a Catholic a V.P., the White Horse Prophesy did not include a Catholic Sancho riding beside him.

    Fun Facts:

A Google site search of FITSNews produces more hits for “Tom Davis” than it does “Nikki Haley”.

Full Spectrum “Americans” support Ron Paul. And that’s who decides elections.

Sounds like someone needs a lesson on what a full-spectrum conservative is….

Being a pro-life libertarian is not the same as being a “full-spectrum conservative” – also known usually as a “Reagan conservative”.

You could be a rock star on fiscal conservatism (which some people believe Paul to be – never mind his earmarks and lack of coherent plans), but if your “live and let live” philosophy leads you to support the decriminalization of hard drugs, and your foreign policy comes from the Dennis Kucinich wing of the Democrat Party, then you cannot be called a full-spectrum conservative.

Probably correct in the modern day, although if you rewind the clock 100 years Paul is simply a mainstream Republican.

Paul is the only one who even has a fiscal plan. How can you criticize the coherence of his fiscal plan, any plan is better than no plan. I read Pauls plan, and I found it to be very clear and coherent, all the cuts are spelled out, and the effects are shown for 10 years out. It even has some simple comparisons to the Paul budget vs. the Obama budget.

Lee Bright is the probably the dumbest guy to ever serve in the General Assembly, and believe me, that’s saying a lot.

The audience at the debate last night should be ashamed of themselves for booing Paul when he suggested we live by the Golden rule. How dare we actually love our enemy, like the Scriptures teach! Ron Paul is consistent & honest and has my vote. I’m hoping for a strong finish in South Carolina and polls seem to show him surging somewhat.

The audience had the right to boo. I wish I had been there. I would have booed. Ron Paul is an idiot.

The audience started booing before Paul even gave his answer. They weren’t listening to what he had to say, they had already decided it was going to be crazy before hand.

Ron Paul is an absolute moron. These Senators only like their name in the paper. It’s amazing that these Senators call themselves conservative. Ron Paul is a libertarian nut job! I guess they want to be considered crazy as well.
