Why The National Press Loves Nikki Haley

To a growing number of South Carolinians, Gov. Nikki Haley is an unmitigated disaster who has betrayed her campaign promises of transparency and limited government … and sold our state’s economic and environmental best interests down the river in the process.

To the national press, however, she remains a “rising star,” a “Tea Party diva,” a “conservative champion” and a “well-regarded governor.”

Look no further than the blizzard of national accolades Haley received accompanying her endorsement of former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign – or the kiss on the lips she received from feature writer Ned Martel of The Washington Post.

What gives? How is a chief executive with a 34.6 percent approval rating considered “well-regarded?” And how is a governor who doled out record salary increases to her staff as part of the biggest budget in state history considered a “conservative champion?”

We think we may have stumbled upon the answer …

What is it? Haley’s “100 percent faithfulness” to the national press, which she explained during an interview this week with Jack Kuenzie, a reporter with WIS TV 10 (NBC – Columbia, S.C.).

“We don’t watch local TV, um, local news, we don’t read local press, um, we certainly don’t read blogs, the only thing we watch is the national news,” Haley said.

Take a look …

Interesting … although we have it on good authority that Haley keeps especially close tabs on one specific blogger.

    Why:

    1) Haley endorsed the Liberals’ favorite GOP candidate who actually has a chance (unlike Hunstman and Paul.)

    2) Haley is a female, is fits into the left’s quota ambition for non-while male (or Diversity) candidates…

    3) Haley’s family are recent immigrants from a non-Christian country….

    4) Haley is a dissappointment o conservative voters, because she (like FITS or Romney) does not seem to have a Conservative-based core or backbone to combat liberals…

    5) Haley, like FITS, was firmly anti-busienss (and pro-State newspaper) in the Amazon fiasco…

What type of LIBERAL is Sic Willie or Gov. Haley? Please tell us. Mr. T, you a fool.
Btw so SC economy is improving because of who? You should look around the country and see the number of state economies that are improving. National Holiday shopping numbers are back up. Did the stimulus work? (Actually we all know it did…even you Mr. T) SC Lawmakers made tough choices the past several years to help get through the storm of 07-08/09. Its hard to argue the federal help/BO didn’t help us become more stable. $50 state tax rebate (Fits how much would a rebate look like per person?) doesn’t get me as far as having good/safe schools in my neighborhood and cops on the streets or roads that don’t f’up my car tires. Its time to sure-up our core functions of gov. again and then lets talk about cleaning up tax breaks and see where we are. Fits, Are you saying taxes are high in SC?
      Mr. T, you a fool.

She is a clone of John Edwards.

Hated in own state but the darling of the national press till they turn on her when her underwear shows like John Edwards.

Hope she enjoys her brief ride. She will flame out very soon.
FITS better have his book at the printers now.

This is so reminiscient of Clinton. The national media(much more powerful then without mass internet sources) pushed him out into the limelight and ignored all the “problems” he was having in local politics.

I know many an Arkansas resident that was happy to see him “drafted” for national service.

I think these things are usually dictated by the party elites on both side of the left/right paradigm. The ability to manipulate such a person is paramount…and obviously the fields are rich with the Clinton/Haley type via subtle threats of disclosure once they are “in the big game”.

    Two reasons –

One – Palin – they need a Palin replacement hack.

Two – Do you really think anyone nationally gives a rats petutie about what happens in South Carolina?

She’s popular with the national media because she’s a good looking woman with an interesting story, “Indian woman becomes governor in male-dominated, good-ole-boy southern state.”

She talks a good streak, claiming with a straight face for instance to not watch local news or pay attention to polls. People in Montana watch a clip of her on Fox or CNN say, “Now there’s a sharp-looking woman with lots of character, in the deep south. Fresh face, new ideas. I’m impressed.”

Haley is hoping her Romney endorsement is followed by a Romney presidency, leading to a Haley ambassadorship, solving her “non-electability” dilemma here.

I don’t know why the national news likes Queen Haley but I wish someone would enlighten them as to the fact that she is the most corrupt, self absorbed governor that the state of SC has ever had. She will completely destroy the state of SC if she is allowed to continue to govern our state.

South Carolina politics are laughing stocks. All of our elected elite are the butts of jokes, late night tv… come on, remember someone even ” did ” a horse and got caught in this state. Let’s remember back on Johnny Carson when the man from Newberry other wise known as the Spoon Man was popular and then there’s that lizard man down in the pee dee.

who in their right mind would consider voting for someone from backwards South Carolina where according to Sic, no Governor has even been close to fixing the schools, where taxpayers never get refunds and the GA has so many characters in their own right….

who , what sane, rational thinking American would even consider voting a pol from SC into national office…. I mean REALLY.

I was checking into a motel in Washington last week. The Indian-American behind the counter upon seeing I am a South Carolina resident was all aglow about us having a governor who is “from his region in India.” I explained that we are all Americans, that Haley was born in the United States and that she should have no alligence to another country ahead of America. I almost lost my AAA professional discount.

Likewise, I was in a discount mart purchasing a cold beverage when a very friendly Indian-American asked me if I wanted to sample a coconut beverage in honor of Nikki Haley, Queen of Mubai and the dismal failure as South Carolina’s worst Governor in history. I gave the sample to my black cat named Pussy. Even she didn’t like it.

the answer is easy: she’s chosen by the elites because she will sell out the interests of the the state and its citizens for the lowest bid. she’s totally compromised ethically and morally and like all successful politicians has a closet full of skeletons which makes her totally controllable. the media is nothing more than a tool used by tptb for mental control over the easily hypnotized sheep. its obvious that the press isnt interested in the easily understood facts about haley. they simply are given orders by their masters and they regurgitate their dictated message and then they get their paychecks. a common streetwalker has more integrity than whores in the msm. thats why they print blatant lies and continue to give haley cover.

I think down the road they will use her as another example of a hypocritical, family values, conservative, not unlike Sanford. And of course, the mentor and his protege have giving them excellent fodder. The MSM are giving the appearance of fairness and balance in their praise of the “Tea Party darling,” Indian-American Woman raising her to a level of national prominence, which these emboldened political players just crave and love. At a critical moment they’ll shoot her down with the ammunition she’s provided them further solidifying their base and message. Brilliant.

@SCBLUES…Recall?….Nah!!!! Impeachment. A major news orginization just mentioned just that possiblilty for fraud against the Federal Government on the 1 million grant scandal for the health care committee. “It’s a great day in S.C.” Hey? Funny about those FOIA requests and what they reveal. The sharks are circling near the surface and their getting closer with each pass. The legislators may not have a choice if the Feds. come after her.

Accepting a federal grant under false pretenses is no laughing matter. If Haley didn’t think exchanges were a good idea, then she shouldn’t have accepted the $1 million federal grant given for the express purpose of implementing one. Other governors, like Jindal, declined the grant for exactly that reason. This one isn’t going away, and that “little girl” is likely to land a Pulitzer for uncovering a massive fraud.

Let’s recap, shall we? Before the election, Nikki Haley screwed up her Sikh temple, Methodist church, Family business, Personal Taxes, Marriage, Representative committee assignments, Wibur Smith, Lexington Medical Center……

After the election, Nikki Haley has screwed up every agency and program she has touched, and the future careers of every single Administrative staff member. Defying FOIA requirements to hide this federal grant scandal is just icing on the cake.

    • By Dr. Leonard Hofstadter December 17, 2011 at 8:56 am
