The University of South Carolina football program has recorded a ten-win season for only the second time in its 118-year history – and for the second time, it achieved the feat against its arch-rivals, the Clemson Tigers.
The last (and only other) time the Gamecocks hit the double digit win mark? November 24, 1984 – when quarterback Mike Hold led USC to a 22-21 victory over Clemson in Death Valley.
This year, Gamecock fans didn’t have to sweat it out … No. 12 South Carolina (10-2, 6-2 SEC) thrashed the seventeenth-ranked Tigers (9-3, 6-2 ACC) for the third year in a row, emphatically reviving the competitiveness of what had become a one-sided “Rivalry in Name Only.”
