Our friends over at Process Story – one of South Carolina’s top political news aggregators – are bringing back an old tradition from the earliest days of the Palmetto political internets.
It’s called “You Saw Who? With Whom? Where?,” and its purpose is to publicize random sightings of the state’s political elite (a term we’re obviously using very loosely). The format was pioneered a decade ago by the website Palmetto Journal, which shut down in 2002 after a four-year run.
Here’s an example of how the format “works …”
7 February 02
One of our readers in the Columbia area emailed us to report seeing a Yukon with SC Senate Tag #7 driving west on 126 and then exiting east on I-20 today. Apparently Senator Hugh Leatherman was headed home for the weekend shortly after 3 p.m. today.
Yeah …
We never saw much news value in these tidbits, but there’s certainly nothing wrong with Process Story trying to bring it back. The only problem? Hardly anyone reads Process Story, which means the sightings are likely to be few and far between.
Accordingly, if you’ve got a “sighting” you think we should know about, email our founding editor Will Folks (w@fitsnews.com) or send it via our contact page (http://www.fitsnews.com/make-contact).
Oh … and be sure to snap a cell phone picture! Our guess is that this format probably works a lot better with pictures …
