At this point, it’s safe to say that S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s recently released report cards – like everything else her administration touches – have been a complete fiasco. Not only did the governor fail to use the report cards as an opportunity to champion real reform, but she released them at a time when public approval of her own job performance has plummeted to new lows.
As a result, a story that should (and could) have been about how our status quo S.C. General Assembly continues to hold our state back instead became (another) story on Haley’s incompetence.
The dust-up also produced what is likely to wind up being the quote of the year in South Carolina politics from S.C. Rep. Boyd Brown (D-Winnsboro).
“She’s been busy F-ing the rest of the state,” Brown told The (Columbia, S.C.) Free Times. “I’m not surprised that she F-ed me.”
Ba … doom … CHING.
According to a FITS poll, 73 percent of readers give Haley an “F” compared to just 6 percent who give her an “A.”
And while we’re told that our founding editor’s forthcoming book will give Haley an “A” in “F-ing,” he concurs with the grade she’s received from our readers.
