Katy Perry and her heaving smurf-tacularness are obviously both involved in upcoming Smurfs movie – hence our ridiculous headline.
In fact, not only does Perry have a part in the movie … she’s Smurfette (or at least she’s voicing Smurfette). And no, our souvenir Hardee’s glass (circa 1982) never looked quite that good!
Anyway, the Smurfs – a Belgian cartoon that dominated Saturday morning television in the 1980s – are attempting a comeback thirty years after they were first launched in America.
Why?
Why not … the obligatory three decades have elapsed, which means that all of us who grew up following these happy-go-lucky blue mushroom heads are now supposed to relive the experience with our children (inflation adjusted, of course).
It’s a nice moment … so why, exactly, are we envisioning Smurfette and Sassette grinding against each other to Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl.”
Hmmmm. Because we have problems, that’s why …
