If you’ve never been to Table Rock State Park in Pickens County, S.C., you’re missing out …
The 3.5 mile hike to the summit of Pinnacle Mountain is an awesome climb, and at the top of the mountain there are moss-coated indentations in the rock that enable you to sit comfortably while dangling your feet over the edge of the rock face.
Anyway, according to our satirical friends over at The Discust, Pinnacle Mountain could soon become home to a Mount Rushmore-style monument honoring former S.C. Gov. Mark Sanford, former Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer, current Gov. Nikki Haley and current Lt. Gov. Ken Ard.
Pretty awesome, huh?
The carved faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln will be insanely jealous … as would South Dakota’s tourism economy, which would no doubt take a hit due to this South Carolina competition.
Too bad The Discust is a spoof site. And too bad its spoof has the SCGOP paying for the monument, because we believe that this might actually be a better use of tax dollars than pouring more money into our state’s expanding Medicaid hole or its worst-in-the-nation public education system.
Plus it would give us an excuse to travel to Pickens County, where we’re told S.C. Rep. Bill Sandifer wants to make our founding editor squeal like a pig …
