S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley was a pretty crappy accountant, so it’s not surprising to learn that she’s flubbing numbers as governor. But are the inaccuracies and inconsistencies included in her recent employment boasts honest mistakes?
Or are they the latest in a long line of deceptions that have earned her the nickname “Trikki Nikki.”
Haley has boasted on numerous occasions that her administration has created more than 10,000 jobs since taking office six months ago.
The only problem with that claim? Like almost everything else that comes out of Haley’s mouth, it’s simply not true.
According to the Associated Press – which took a break from regurgitating Haley’s talking points this week to do some real reporting for a change – Haley’s numbers are not only “overstated” but they include jobs that the governor actually fought to keep from coming to South Carolina.
“Thousands of the positions will not arrive in South Carolina for years, the AP report notes. “Some actually were announced before she took office. Hundreds are the fruit of a deal that Haley tried to derail.”
Obviously, the latter reference is to the Amazon deal – a controversy which dominated Haley’s first legislative session. After straddling the fence for weeks, Haley eventually came out against a sales tax “safe harbor” exemption for the company. All the while, though, her Commerce Secretary continued to lobby for the deal – which Haley allowed to become law without her signature.
Also, the AP report noted that Haley took credit for jobs “that did not involve the state.”
So in other words Haley has “created 10,000 jobs” … if you count jobs that were already coming to South Carolina, jobs that Haley tried to keep from coming to South Carolina, jobs that won’t be coming here “for years” and jobs that government had nothing to do with creating.
Weak, right?
Furthermore, 4,000 of the jobs on Haley’s ever-changing list are Walmart positions that were announced by Haley in the wake of the initial defeat of the Amazon deal. Commerce officials – who were not involved in the Walmart negotiations – tell FITS they are unsure how many of those low-paying jobs will actually materialize.
Haley’s job-related boasts come just weeks after the state’s unemployment rate hit 10 percent … again. Her administration’s Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) will release new unemployment data on July 22.
Assuming Haley’s administration really did “create 10,000 jobs” (which it obviously didn’t), that figure amounts to just half of a percent of the state’s workforce of roughly 2 million.

“I have been 100% faithful to my husband throughout our 13 years of marriage. This claim against me is categorically and totally false.”
“It is sad, but not surprising, that this disgraceful smear has taken form less than a week removed from the release of a poll showing our campaign with a significant lead. It is quite simply South Carolina politics at its worst.”
It’s not the sex, its the cover-up.

“We are so proud of Team USA! They are a true source of pride for our country! I’m also happy for Team Japan….”
Japan won. And what is this “we?” Is she speaking for??? Who?? I’m surprised she didn’t take credit for it. This is happy-face whoopie again.
By Prince Poppycock July 18, 2011 at 8:49 am
Ahhhh…..hahahaha….scmajor. Funny you should pipe in minutes after this is posted!!! You work for Haley. You get paid, or blown, to check this site every few minutes all day long.
By Nikki's Twitter before Editing July 18, 2011 at 8:59 am
I coached Team USA from SC. They would have won if I was there, but I am too busy making SC great to travel. I also coached the Gamecocks to victory, but I am too proud to take credit. There are hundreds of wonderful achievements in SC everyday for which I do not take credit. My terrifically understanding First Cuckhold is controlling SLED for my fantastically experienced and insightful Administration. I am great, SC is great, and America is great.
By Rapture July 18, 2011 at 9:09 am
Sic….please…..a simple article on the First Cuckhold, Timmy Peckerless, and that dipshit AG. You did a wonderful hit piece or Ard, why favor these fuckers???? No more Mr. Suckass.
By BigT July 18, 2011 at 9:12 am
There were a lot of people, The State newspaper, FITS calling Amazon ‘Corporate Welfare’ or saying it is “The Government Picking Winners” who are now bellying up to the trough….
Shame on ALL of you…If you have NO well-based Instincts or guts before-hand, you should not try to reap the rewards…
But w/ the character of people this day and age…Fat Chance..

Great article on Harrell. He’s gonna have hershey squirts for a month.
By John July 18, 2011 at 9:44 am
It should be simple for a media outlet to request from Commerce, in writing, the composition of the 10,000 jobs and when they take affect.
Then post it online so we can all see the truth and make up our own minds. The AP started this correctly and for that I am thankful. But people need to see this crap from themselves without a filter. The Tea Party would freak if they actually KNEW what she was doing.
Lastly, the Wall-mart jobs includes expansions/relocation of stores and a few new stores. The figures do not include the stores to close (or being moved)which of course would needed to be SUBTRACTED from the total.
Is sum, good reporting on this simple story would put a knife through the myth of Haley. So someone, please do it!
By Ramon July 18, 2011 at 9:52 am
John, heck….some Canadian pub has already knocked it to a very shaky 9,000.
By The Coincidence July 18, 2011 at 9:57 am
Good point John. Transferring jobs is not the same as creating jobs, but the Haley administration doesn’t know the difference. Haley could say 10 million were created……but wouldn’t specify that’s worldwide over 10 years. No integrity.
By Is this SHIITE for real July 18, 2011 at 9:59 am
At last count,3 votes in her favor. Staffers for sure. And by the way, has there been any news on Pearson leaving his post?
By Lynn July 18, 2011 at 10:04 am
New jobs minus jobs lost during 2011 = negative job growth! Do the math, oops that’s right math is hard….
By HoneyDo July 18, 2011 at 10:06 am
“Flubbing” numbers was ONE of the very things that got the South Carolina Employment Security Commission, now known as The Department of Employment and Workforce in trouble, prompting an investigation by the Legislative Audit Counsel. Is all aspects of government as corrupt as it appears? We taxpayers really need to pay more attention to who we vote into office.
By Maxwell July 18, 2011 at 10:11 am
Time to get rid of them. All of them. Any elected official may resign at any time. Media…….all it takes is a couple flicks for Sic’s Harrell piece to pop onto the front page of the NY POST. Or any of them to be featured along side Nookie.
By Yami July 18, 2011 at 10:12 am

By Hunh? July 18, 2011 at 12:43 pm
Fox News interviewed her this morning.
She used her handling of the bankrupt SC Employment Security Fund as an example of how the Federal Government should manage its affairs.
Wait a second — didn’t the State have to borrow even more money to pay back previously borrowed money, and isn’t the agency still paying out more in claims than it is taking in in revenue?
And this is a “good” example?
She also beat the drum for a constitutional balanced budget amendment, despite the fact that SC is currently in violation of it’s own.
Of course the Fox reporters were too dumb or uninformed to point this out.
There are excellent Governors out there who are great spokemen for smaller government, and have the track record to prove it.
Mrs. Haley has actually grown government in the short time she has been in office.
Amazing…
By Kickboxer July 18, 2011 at 12:50 pm
Haley could claim that she is the smartest minority female Governor ever…….but that’s not saying much.

By kickboxer July 18, 2011 at 3:57 pm
Haley doesn’t have pictures of her getting a Brazilian wax in France by an Italian gigolo. It was the Asian masseuse from Japan who applied the Congo Cocoa butter afterwards who confessed.

By Friendly Neighborhood Dermatologist July 18, 2011 at 4:13 pm

By Observer July 18, 2011 at 4:16 pm
Sic – Did numbnuts Haley even send anyone to represent her at the funeral? Did she even think to ask? Send flowers? Send a card? WTF? Do they have a policy for that? Did Sanfraud ever go to one? I mean, did common decency ever creep into that woefully dimwitted mind space of hers? That is an insult.

By tomstickler July 18, 2011 at 4:19 pm
Can anyone direct me to see a copy of Haleys SC1040 tax returns? Did she make them available during the election campaign, or not?
Google is no help. In fact, the second hit in my search brought me back to FitsNews to one of my own posts.
By Rapture July 18, 2011 at 4:22 pm
Wacko, Sic said Nikki took that advice to heart. And she was damn good at it too. Interesting stuff to know about our heartless Governor. Sic didn’t mind telling us. And we don’t mind sharing, do we?
By Perry Mason July 18, 2011 at 4:25 pm
tomstickler – Don’t know where you are going with that, but good luck to you. We the people will show Nookie the true meaning of transparency.
By Perry Mason July 18, 2011 at 4:28 pm
Anybody know if Nookie keeps a weekend schedule? Timmy the P man must know what she did Sunday.
By Honestly July 18, 2011 at 4:35 pm
Well, so far it appears that Nikki kicked back at the mansion, resting for yet another national “love me” fest at Fox, instead of attending a funeral for a SC officer.
By Perry Mason July 18, 2011 at 4:39 pm
The Lauren’s County Police Chief tells WSPA there were nearly 1500 law enforcement officials there to honor Deputy Rice. The First Baptist Church was packed full of friends, family, and Law Enforcement Sunday afternoon to remember Deputy Rice’s life. Not a mention about the Governor’s Office.
By Is this SHIITE for real July 18, 2011 at 4:43 pm
Just pure skankiness.
By ColaRepub July 18, 2011 at 4:51 pm
Well I guess she did take the time to TWEET about it on Thursday and at the end of the day is this not one of the most important parts of her job description?… Tweeting condolences to the families of cops that have been murdered while enforcing the laws of the the state she governs? ” We will never forget you…”
I would LOVE for a reporter to wait a week and ask her ” Gov. Haley, What was the name of the Officer that was killed in Laurens County?” See how long she squirms….
By jimlewisowb July 18, 2011 at 5:01 pm
Expectations of creditable, reliable facts coming out of the Governor’s Office reminds me of why one pays for the services of a relaxation specialist.
You expect the relaxation specialist to tell you that are wonderful, you are fantastic and you are the best she has ever had. You know and she knows that she is lying.
So whether you get fucked by a relaxation specialist or get fucked by a Gypsy Queen Governor you will have to listen to the lies that go with fucking. Like it or not, that is the fucking way it is(TTFWII).
Sometimes in life, it’s harder to get out of things than you first think. Like… an upstairs bedroom when you hear the front door at the bottom of the steps close and your wife yells, honey I’m home early.
Roll on Gypsy Queen Dooh Nibor, dammit roll on!!
By Davenport July 18, 2011 at 5:11 pm
Haley’s Tweets are as worthless as she is. Tweeting condolences to the families of cops is plain wrong. It is appalling. She applies the same to pool parties and movies. Along with…..I am wonderful, SC is wonderful because of me, America is great cos it wants me as VP. This is a fantastic day.
By Yami July 18, 2011 at 5:26 pm
Botching the figures is bad, tweeting condolences is sick. What was she thinking? Box licker Wenger of the Pubes and Curry needs to do an article on this. How could they possibly spin it into a positive?
By Maxwell55 July 18, 2011 at 6:37 pm
Nikki flew a hundred miles to visit BMW. A fucking 100 miles on a state plane. Bitch.
By Marble July 18, 2011 at 6:55 pm

By Johnston July 18, 2011 at 7:15 pm
Sic – What’s the deal with this situation? Is the Governor allowed to completely blow it off, or what? This reeks. I’m pissed, and this will not stand uncontested. M + M are right.
By ColaRepub July 18, 2011 at 7:49 pm
Glad to see that myself and the law enforcement community are not the only ones disappointed by this. Thousands of officers from all across the state drove hours to be there and honor this man and grieve his untimely death. I am lucky enough to be married to one of these great officers that spent his only day off this week in Laurens, SC. I hope that I am wrong and Haley had something very important to do yesterday but I speak for many people in asking. Governor Haley- What were you doing at 3:00pm Sunday 7/17/11? Below is a link to some very moving pictures from yesterday. Also, thanks Sic for pointing out that she could have flown there in less than 15 min. :)

I am sure she was at church Sunday convincing her Sunday school friends that faith-based organizations need to step up and help people. NOT!!! However, I am sure that there were plenty of people around the state actually in church and figuring out how to truly help some of the less fortunate people of our state. Unfortunately, as long as she is governor, we will all suffer while she runs the state into the ground.

The quality of posting has gone down here. Most of you are not funny, and are tiresome. Especially the pubes and courier guy. And the “dick” guy. And Jim Lewis has lost his charm too.
Unless you are funny, have something interesting to say…or have needed information, please think twice before posting.

By Maxwell55 July 19, 2011 at 9:26 am
Clem must be new. Anyway, there has got to be a protocol for the Governor to follow if a police officer is KIA. And it is not tweeting some crap….. I cannot find it. Nobody will return my calls or emails. The President sends a personal letter to a service member’s family. Did this sorry excuse of a Governor even do that? Considering the numerous PR gaffes she has committed, this would have been an excellent time to show professionalism and leadership.
By Maxwell55 July 19, 2011 at 9:35 am
