Today’s Tunage: You Betcha Life

Sometimes a random comment on someone’s social media page prompts our selection of “Today’s Tunage.”

Such is the case with “Cornflake Girl” by Tori Amos – released in 1994 as the first single off of her Under the Pink LP.

Despite our founding editor’s unshakable conviction that the song is about girl-on-girl action, in truth it’s about female genital mutilation in Africa (specifically) and female betrayal in a broader sense – with women either falling into the category of “Cornflake girls” (prejudiced and narrow-minded) or “Raisin girls” (open-minded and accepting).

Ummm … okay.
