S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley is planning to lead a “business delegation” to India this fall, the country’s ambassador to the United States said on Friday.
“Quite a number of Governors have expressed interest in taking delegations to India and we are actively working with them try to crystallize these (plans),” ambassador Meera Shankar said in a statement.
Haley, specifically, “has indicated an interest in perhaps going (to India) sometime later this year in the fall,” Shankar said, but added that “these (plans) are yet to crystallize fully.”
Sheesh … what is it with this lady and crystallization?
No word yet on whether Haley will fly first class to India … or whether she will “pay obeisance” at the holy Sikh temple of Harmandar Sahib when she arrives.
Haley’s parents – who migrated from India – are practicing Sikhs. Haley says she became a Methodist after marrying her husband, Michael.

Maybe she has a film lined up.

Sic–I think I understand your reflexive cynicism about the governor traveling to India on a trade mission, although I’d say her “favorite daughter” status might be good for the state. However, it really seems unnecessary (and perhaps beneath you) to make snide allusions to her family’s religious background. It may be appropriate to call someone out for religious hypocrisy (plenty of that in the political classes in SC, seems to me), but to imply that a person’s religion suggests divided loyalties is beyond the pale, in my opinion. Whether she’s a Methodist or Sikh, or a member of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster really ought to be a matter of her personal conscience, as it should be for everyone. Jake Knotts’ ignorant comments notwithstanding, I think most of us are past religion-baiting. In the guv’s case, there’s plenty of legitimate stuff to go after without taking (really) cheap shots.

We can only hope and pray that she decides to stay there,

There’s lots talented Indians in the “technology” sector that we could sure use in South Carolina. Let’s hope she gets some Indian companies to set up shop here.

FITS–Hey, guy, it’s your blog. I wasn’t trying to tell you what you can or can’t say. I’m just saying that, when it’s this easy to find things to criticize, why use the irrelevant stuff?

Will Tim, the “Chief of Staff” go with her, or stay at home and run the government.
You need a poll to see if Tim will tap the puntang in the Punjab? My bet says yes.

You can not make this shit up….I mean ..Jesus..accomplish something here ….before you engage a country where corruption is an art form.
You will be no more successful at economic development than anyone else…..women are sperm sputtoons in India…nothing else.

Geez. Half our jobs are already there, now lets send the taxpayer’s money. While she’s gone, I guess our temporary guv will be the other fox in the hen’s house.

In the event she is under federal investigation, will she be allowed to leave the country?

Tell our dear cousin Aktar greetings and see if you can get our business venture up and running. I spoke with your dear father at last super secret Indian meeting and he gave me the wink. I can be assured that you, dear Nikki, will take care of everything. Is there any chance that you can help with a little tax problem I have. You said that I did not have to tell them the truth and they are saying otherwise. Thank you , dear Nikki, I am so glad that we have this website for our secret conversations. Would not want everyone to know our little secrets. Best to your American husband.

“Haley says she became a Methodist after marrying her husband, Michael.”
Maybe, but after her election to the House her story had a slightly different twist:
“As a Sikh, there were questions about her faith. “But everybody knows us. She is born and brought up here only. Her husband is an American. Their two children go to the church as well as the temple. We explained these to the sceptics,” Ajit Randhawa, her father said.”

Can she show a birth cerificate? The time line, father, from Punjab to Canadian phd school to 1970, mother moves here to join him after, and then attempt move to US. Was Haley born here, or there. Show proof.

William – With all of the abuse Tim is getting, not only is he tapping his boss every which way including loose…..she must be really good with all of the experience she has. Hey, Nikki tapped her Governor, Tim is doing the same thing. I betcha

All of her bios say Clemson grad 1994…worked for FCR in Charlotte acct, supvr…to work for parents 1994. This is odd because the Lex. Med. Ctr. app. says FCR, 1994-96. The time line does not jive.

Have ya’ll noticed that Michael keeps going from blog to blog, story to story and calling his wife a “Stupid Ugily Bitch”?……..he really must be pissed!
By Bopp2 March 20, 2011 at 6:16 pm
The Constitution of the State of South Carolina does not require that the Governor be born in the US. Age at least 30, belief in “the Supreme Being,” and citizenship in the state of at least 5 years are the basic requirements. So, “cash,” unless her birth certificate shows that Nikki was born after 1980, it would be irrelevant.

Jeff = It burns when he pees, that is why Michael is so mad.

USINPAC. Stand by for an infusion of P4 in the state Medicaid system and the importation of thousands of Indian teachers. Not tomahawk, 7-11.

The employment history on the LMC app is strange. Has anyone checked out whether she is lying about this too?

What exactly is the point of a ‘business’ trip to India? Will the delegation be trying to bring industry to SC? I DOUBT IT. American jobs are outsourced TO India.
What a complete waste of our tax dollars.
THUMBS DOWN.

Keep her here to find a sponsor for the Heritage Golf Classic. After all she said she would call companies every day to save it. Can I please see the list of Companies you have called? It was a priority made to those in the County Meetings of Beaufort and Hilton Head Island.
By Silver September 12, 2011 at 3:04 pm
Is she going to India to get companies to come to SC to do business or is she outsourcing the few jobs we have left in the state of SC?!?
