We weren’t scared last spring when our founding editor jeopardized this website’s very existence by announcing that he had gotten all “inappropriatey” with Nikki Haley. And while Sic Willie (a.k.a. Will Folks) may not have conclusively proven his claim (yet), he’s given as good as he’s gotten in the non-stop war that’s been waged against him ever since by the Haley machine.
It’s been great entertainment, too …
Similarly, we weren’t scared last winter when hundreds of thousands of dollars in special interest money (presumably from those famous Koch brothers) was pumped into a venture designed to challenge our new media supremacy.
How’d that effort work out? Not so well …
As websites like The Nerve have foundered (and The Palmetto Scoop and Wolfe Reports succumbed to our dominance), the challengers keep coming, though … which is good. Competition keeps us on our toes – even if we do eventually have to bury our competitors.
That’s why as a flood of new political blogs hit the market in recent months, we still weren’t scared … whether it was the Republican Party mouthpiece Process Story or pro-Haley mouthpieces like The Garnet Spy and Stuffed Suits.
We also weren’t scared when one of the state’s top liberal political activists started up her website again. Why not? Because we knew it would turn into exactly what it is – an infrequently updated regurgitation of the state’s left-leaning mainstream drivel (which people are so done with).
Like “Hit Girl,” we kick all of these web site’s asses, people. With ease … (and humility).
How? By breaking more stories, being better writers and consistently advancing better ideas via our unique “unfair, imbalanced” hybrid newspinion format.
It’s a marketplace of ideas, people … and like it or not, we’re winning.
Of course if anybody else “wants some,” feel free to bring it …
